The Exciting Finale of the 2024 PHBS-CJBS Global Pitch Competition Announced
On December 5, 2024, the world witnessed the grand finale of the 2024 PHBS-CJBS Global Pitch Competition, beautifully held at the Peking University HSBC Business School (PHBS) in Shenzhen, China. This prestigious competition, organized in collaboration with the Cambridge Judge Business School (CJBS), celebrated innovation and entrepreneurship by bringing together startups from around the globe.
The competition kicked off in January and attracted an astounding 506 startup projects worldwide. After a rigorous selection process and preliminary tours of information, only 36 teams made it to the semifinals, leading to ten finalists competing for top honors. Participants came from various fields including artificial intelligence, new materials, and biotechnology, each presenting cutting-edge technologies to a distinguished panel of academics, investors, and entrepreneurs.
Among the notable winners, six startups received third place accolades, including Daosheng Biological (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd, BrainThink, YUANWEISHIJIE, Synphage, SIPIMO Technology Group, and Zhiwei Data. The second-place awards were presented to I2Cool, Wayo, and XZD Material Technology, while the eagerly anticipated first-place winner was Shanmu (Shenzhen) Biotechnology Co., Ltd. This innovative startup, established in 2021 in London, specializes in a non-invasive health management AI. Their groundbreaking product is a fully automated spectral robot about the size of a computer mouse, capable of conducting over ten quantitative analyses of urinary molecules.
As part of its commitment to advancing health management solutions, Shanmu provides digital tools that assists individuals and families with their health needs. This innovation not only highlights the capabilities of technology but also its crucial role in managing health and wellness in today's fast-paced world.
In addition to the competition, the event featured a forum titled the PHBS-CJBS Bay Area Entrepreneurship and Venture Capital forum. Here, a strategic partnership was announced involving PHBS, the China-Britain Business Council (CBBC), and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC). This collaborative effort aims to strengthen international cooperation and foster quality development in the innovation ecosystem of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
The forum unfolded through two engaging roundtable discussions. The first roundtable, titled "Vision for the Future: Business Breakthroughs and Transformations in the New Era," addressed emerging themes such as the combination of industry and artificial intelligence, alongside innovation and transformation. Meanwhile, the second roundtable focused on the trends in enterprise innovation development and venture capital, covering investment strategies, decision-making practices, and improving productivity through innovation.
As the event wrapped up, excitement filled the air with the announcement of the 2025 PHBS-CJBS Global Pitch Competition, promising another thrilling season featuring technological startups and industrial hubs from the Shenzhen region.
