Truist Foundation Launches Inspire Awards Challenge for Adult Workers Adapting to AI

Truist Foundation Introduces Inspire Awards Challenge

In an ambitious effort to support adult workers in an ever-evolving technological landscape, the Truist Foundation has officially unveiled its fourth Inspire Awards Challenge. This initiative is designed to assist nonprofit organizations in enhancing their capacity to help individuals transition into the new age shaped by artificial intelligence (AI). With over $1 million allocated in grants and in-kind services, the Inspire Awards strive to create sustainable career pathways and economic mobility for workers.

The Inspire Awards Challenge is launched in collaboration with MIT Solve, a Massachusetts Institute of Technology initiative that seeks innovative solutions to pressing global problems. Nonprofits can submit their applications until August 7, 2026, focusing on providing innovative services, training programs, and career navigation support to adult workers adapting to advancements in AI.

Lynette Bell, head of Truist Philanthropy and the Truist Foundation's president, emphasizes the urgency of adapting to rapid technological changes. She states, "Artificial intelligence is transforming the way people learn, work, and prepare for the future. We want to elevate organizations that are helping workers adapt with confidence and gain access to opportunities that support long-term stability."

Participants in the Inspire Awards Challenge will gain access to a six-month development program tailored to refine and implement their ideas. Six finalists will benefit from a comprehensive assessment of their needs, educational modules focused on business strategy enhancement, and networking opportunities with resource partners and coaches.

Once the program concludes, all finalists will be awarded grants to help bring their projects to life. The first-place recipient will receive a substantial grant of $250,000, while second and runner-up positions will earn $150,000 and $25,000, respectively. Notably, the introduction of a new Community Choice Award provides an additional grant of $75,000 to one finalist, ensuring that innovative projects receive the financial backing they need, regardless of their overall ranking.

Hala Hanna, executive director at MIT Solve, echoes the sentiments behind the initiative: "Nonprofits are helping workers adapt to a changing economy as AI reshapes every sector. Through our collaboration with Truist Foundation, we are elevating solutions that expand opportunity and ensure workers across industries can thrive in the age of AI."

The Inspire Awards program has become a significant platform where nonprofits can share and advance their strategies to meet economic mobility challenges within their communities. Previous finalists have introduced novel approaches to career navigation, expanded access to skill training, and supported workers in aligning with the new demands of the job market.

As the Truist Foundation looks to the future, the 2026-2027 Inspire Awards Challenge aims to identify and uplift organizations tackling the challenges and opportunities brought about by AI and emerging technologies. Interested organizations are encouraged to learn more and apply through the designated channels.
