Visit Williamsburg's Great American Birthday Quilt Project Invites All to Celebrate American History
Celebrating 250 Years: The Great American Birthday Quilt Project
Visit Williamsburg is thrilled to announce a unique initiative aimed at commemorating America's 250th birthday through collective creativity. Titled The Great American Birthday Quilt Project, this endeavor invites individuals from all walks of life across the nation to craft quilt panels that reflect their personal stories and their pride in American history. The project runs until the end of 2025, encouraging participation from everyone, whether they're seasoned crafters or complete novices.
A Collective Canvas of American Pride
The quilt project seeks to gather thousands of fabric panels that will depict a myriad of stories, visions, and aspirations that celebrate the fabric of American society. Steve Prince, the Director of Engagement and a Distinguished Artist in Residence at the Muscarelle Museum of Art at William & Mary, is leading this diverse initiative. Partnering with Visit Williamsburg, the project aims to create a symbol of unity and hope as the country approaches this significant milestone.
Prince emphasizes that every contribution holds importance and tells its own story.
