BJ's Launches Grass Attack® Cold IPA
As the world gears up for the summer's major soccer tournament, BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse is excited to announce the latest addition to its lineup of craft beers, the Grass Attack® Cold IPA. This refreshing, hop-forward beer is tailored specifically for the summer warmth and ideal for spectators gearing up for match days, hosting watch parties, or simply enjoying a sunny afternoon.
Grass Attack® represents BJ’s commitment to quality brewing, honed over nearly three decades. The beer was developed at their innovation hub in Boulder, Colorado, where skilled brewers craft over 30 unique beer styles each year. This release not only exemplifies BJ’s brewing legacy, which began in 1996, but it also cements the brand’s position as one of the most decorated restaurant-brewery concepts in the United States.
One might wonder, what exactly is a cold IPA? This trending style in the craft brewing world combines the bold hop flavor found in traditional IPAs with the crisp and smooth characteristics of a pale lager. Grass Attack® showcases this balance beautifully. With an ABV of 6.5% and an IBU of 42, it pours a pale golden hue and welcomes you with bright aromas of tropical fruits and citrus. Brewed with Strata and Elani hops, expect layers of grapefruit, orange zest, lime, passion fruit, and even pineapple. Complementing these fruity notes are subtle herbal and grassy undertones, impressive enough to justify the beer’s name. The finish is delightful, with hop bitterness that strikes the right note without overwhelming the palate—perfect for enjoying multiple matches comfortably.
According to Alex Puchner, SVP of Brewing Operations, "We aimed to create a beer that would last the full 90 minutes and more. Grass Attack encapsulates all the qualities we love about a cold IPA: bold tropical flavors, refreshing crispness, and a drinkable finish. It’s the ideal companion whether you're intently watching the games or simply savoring summer with friends."
Grass Attack® joins an exciting array of innovations from BJ's, which include popular releases like the Sweet Sin Chocolate Porter™ featuring Ghirardelli® chocolate, the nostalgic BJ's Hard Root Beer, and Waterfall, a special Japanese-style rice lager developed in partnership with Sapporo. This fearless approach to exploration in brewing has garnered them 276 medals since 1996 and accolades like the 2025 Questex Vibe Vista Award for "Best Beer Program" and the 2026 World Beer Cup Silver Award for their robust Jeremiah Red® beer.
For guests planning their next gathering—be it a soccer match watch party or a casual summer meet-up—Grass Attack® offers the perfect way to toast the season. Additionally, during games on Wednesdays, BJ's signature beers are available for just $5, making match days even more enjoyable.
BJ's Restaurants, Inc. operates over 200 establishments across 31 states, emphasizing high-quality ingredients and a welcoming atmosphere. The restaurant's diverse menu caters to many tastes, featuring everything from iconic deep-dish pizzas to delectable desserts like the famous Pizookie®.
