Indiana University's Brady Wright Takes Franchise Challenge with College H.U.N.K.S. in Bloomington

Indiana University's Brady Wright Takes Franchise Challenge

In an exciting venture for young entrepreneurs, Brady Wright, a senior at Indiana University's Kelley School of Business, has officially signed a franchise agreement to introduce College H.U.N.K.S. Hauling Junk & Moving® to the vibrant community of Bloomington, Indiana, slated to open in Spring 2027. This accomplishment highlights the potential of blending education with practical business experience.

A Scholarship Fueled by Competition

The journey began with a friendly wager between College H.U.N.K.S. co-founder Omar Soliman and Chief Legal Counsel Kelsie Ackman, linking a scholarship opportunity to a pivotal college football matchup between Indiana and Miami. Wright, discovering the franchise opportunity through a television advertisement, seized the chance and entered the competition, ultimately earning a scholarship that covers his initial franchise fee.

However, it is crucial to note that the scholarship does not simplify the pathway to franchise ownership. Brady was diligent — he reviewed the Franchise Disclosure Document thoroughly, visited the College H.U.N.K.S. headquarters in Tampa, and engaged with the franchise development team before finally signing the standard franchise agreement, just like any other franchisee.

Eric Osborne, the Director of Franchise Development for College H.U.N.K.S., emphasized the importance of leadership qualities in potential franchisees. “We look for the same thing in every candidate, whether they're 25 years into a career or still finishing a degree the drive to lead a team and build something that lasts,” Osborne stated, expressing confidence in Wright’s abilities.

Rooted in Community

A native of Indiana, Brady is not just launching a business; he is nurturing a vision based on community ties. At the Kelley School of Business, he is majoring in entrepreneurship and corporate innovation. His affection for Bloomington's culture and its people drives him to initiate his business venture there, aiming not just for personal success but to give back to a city that has shaped him.

College H.U.N.K.S., founded in 2003 by Omar Soliman and Nick Friedman, started as a simple junk hauling service operated by college students. Now, it has expanded to over 150 locations and 370 territories across North America. Wright's entry into this entrepreneurial space brings the brand full circle, returning to its roots in a college town.

Aiming for More Than Profit

Despite the operational challenges ahead, Wright's ambitions encompass more than just managing a successful business. He aims to develop the Bloomington location more rapidly than any previous territory in the brand’s history while documenting his experiences on social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok under the handle @BtownCollegeHunk. His objective is to share not just the triumphs but also the struggles and lessons learned through the process, offering an honest portrayal of entrepreneurship.

“I’m 21, I definitely don’t have everything figured out,” Wright reflected. “What excites me more is what that company can allow me to do for other people create jobs, serve the community, and foster meaningful relationships.” This perspective shifts the focus of entrepreneurship towards social impact, illustrating how businesses can be powerful tools for community service and connection.

Wright's vision centers on creating job opportunities, supporting local organizations, and enhancing the community's quality of life. By establishing College H.U.N.K.S. in Bloomington, he hopes not only to contribute to the economy but also to inspire other young entrepreneurs to pursue ventures that combine personal fulfillment with community betterment.
