Introduction to Mahalíque
On April 6, 2026, the second enrollment period for the online community "Mahalíque", headed by acclaimed author
Maha Harada, will commence. This unique community is housed on a dedicated platform,
OSIRO, offered by OSIRO Inc. Mahalíque serves as a creative haven for those who resonate with Harada’s artistic sensibilities and narratives.
What is Mahalíque?
Mahalíque offers a space where members can interact, share experiences, and spark new stories. Harada thrives on facilitating meaningful dialogues among community members, sending out regular updates and reflections from her life in Japan and Paris through a journal-style correspondence known as "Maha's Letters". These notes contribute a personal touch, bringing warmth and insight into members' daily lives.
The concept of Mahalíque stems from Harada’s message of living through this era collectively. The community emphasizes shared experiences, with a blend of digital and offline interactions, including art lectures centered on the influential figures that inspire her writing.
The Art Courses
One of the standout features of Mahalíque is Harada’s
Art Courses, where participants engage in enthusiastic discussions about the artists that have shaped her novels. The upcoming second session of the Art Course series will focus on
“Tayutaedomo Shizunazu,” exploring the relationships and struggles of four key figures in late-19th-century Paris: the Japanese art dealer
Tadakazu Hayashi, and artists
Vincent van Gogh and his brother
Theo.
Throughout this program, which runs from May to October 2026, discussions will include:
- - May: Overview of “Tayutaedomo Shizunazu” with insights from Harada;
- - June: A summary of Vincent van Gogh’s life;
- - July: Exploration of Tadakazu Hayashi’s contributions to the Japonisme movement;
- - August: Van Gogh's impact on post-impressionism;
- - September: A guided tour of Van Gogh's life locations;
- - October: A discussion with the editor that worked on “Tayutaedomo Shizunazu.”
