Celebrating 50 Years of Tradition: Taihei and Seikatsu Club's Soy Sauce Set

50-Year Anniversary: A Celebration of Tradition

Seikatsu Club, headquartered in Shinjuku, Tokyo, is excited to announce the reservation launch of its special "50th Anniversary Round Soybean Soy Sauce Set" in partnership with Taihei Co., Ltd. This commemorative set celebrates five decades of collaboration by featuring soy sauces crafted using time-honored techniques.

Limited Edition Soy Sauce Set

Beginning in mid-September 2025, customers can pre-order this exclusive product. Limited to just 12,000 sets, it includes two bottles: one of domestic 300ml round soybean soy sauce and another of 300ml reduced-salt soy sauce. Both products are made using authentic Japanese ingredients, emphasizing quality and flavor.

Features of the Soy Sauce Set

  • - Selected Domestic Ingredients: The soy sauce is made with carefully sourced raw materials from Japan, including soybeans from Yamagata Prefecture and wheat from Hokkaido. These selections enhance the umami flavors.
  • - Traditional Natural Drip Method: Unlike mass-produced soy sauces, this set employs an artisanal method known as "natural drip." This involves allowing the soy sauce to drip solely under its own weight, creating a rich and concentrated flavor profile. The process requires patience and attention, as only a small amount is produced each time.

The Gift of Tradition: Wooden Barrel Donation

As part of the celebration, Seikatsu Club will donate a wooden fermentation barrel to Taihei, expressing their wish for them to continue producing traditional soy sauce. This gesture has deep roots — a similar donation occurred during the 30th anniversary. They aim to complete the barrel's construction by March 2026, with funding sourced partly from the sales of the commemorative soy sauce. The donated barrels, expected to last about 150 years, will support future soy sauce production and serve as a bridge connecting the cooperative members with the producers. Ordering the commemorative soy sauce will allow customers to play a significant role in preserving this tradition.

The method of using wooden barrels for fermentation has remained unchanged for over 140 years, resulting in a rich and profound taste. However, with the rise of mass production, traditional methods and craftsmen have become rare. In the 30th anniversary, cooperative members contributed wooden barrels, showcasing their dedication to preserving traditional soy sauce production. The commemorative soy sauce set highlights the exceptional nature of its natural drip method. They encourage everyone to rediscover the rich flavors of soy sauce and connect past traditions with the future.
