TKC Pioneers Digital Invoicing Collaboration with NEC
In a significant move towards modernizing business operations,
TKC Co., Ltd., headquartered in Utsunomiya City, Tochigi Prefecture, has successfully implemented Japan's De Facto Standard for digital invoicing,
PEPPOL, in collaboration with
NEC Corporation from Tokyo. This advancement was announced on July 3, 2025, marking a crucial step in enhancing operational efficiency through digital solutions.
The adoption of the
PEPPOL framework allows TKC to streamline its entire invoice management process. From approvals to processing accounts and handling document storage, the integration of PEPPOL has created a seamless flow, leading to significant time savings and improved accuracy in financial transactions. This move is not just a technological upgrade but a transformative step toward a more efficient and organized operational structure.
In line with the onset of Japan's invoicing reform in October 2023, TKC has committed to primarily issuing invoices digitally through the
PEPPOL system. Currently, they are processing more than
9,000 invoices per month for their clients, which include tax accountants and large enterprises. Additionally, as of June 2025, invoicing to the National Tax Agency has also transitioned to a digital format via the
Government Procurement System (GEPs), showcasing TKC’s comprehensive approach to digital transformation.
TKC is equally dedicated to receiving invoices digitally. By collaborating with NEC, they have successfully received invoices through the
PEPPOL system, which is part of their broader strategy to encourage more partners to follow suit. This initiative highlights TKC’s commitment to not only enhance its own operations but also to support clients' business improvements through digital invoice utilization.
Understanding PEPPOL
PEPPOL, which stands for Pan-European Public Procurement On-Line, is a set of specifications and agreements that aim to streamline electronic invoicing and procurement processes across borders. Its integration within Japan’s business ecosystem is transforming how companies handle invoices, making transactions more efficient and environmentally friendly.
