MGM China Achieves Record Third-Quarter Financial Performance, Reflecting Strong Growth in Macau Tourism
MGM China Reports Record Third-Quarter Results for 2026
MGM China Holdings Limited, recognized for its premier gaming and hospitality destinations, has recently unveiled its outstanding financial performance for the third quarter of 2026. The report showcases a remarkable growth trajectory amid a successfully evolving tourism landscape in Macau, highlighted by an influx of visitors and increased gaming revenue.
During the noted period, the region welcomed an impressive average of 122,139 tourists daily—a commendable 8% rise compared to the previous year. As the property sector saw daily gross gaming revenue (GGR) reaching MOP655 million, MGM China stood out with its own notable performance. Despite a 4% year-over-year dip in GGR attributed to the World Cup's temporary market impact, MGM China continued to excel. Daily visits to MGM's properties surged upward by 10%, with GGR rising 5% contrasting the prior year's figures, underscoring its strong position in the high-value gaming segment.
The results indicate revenue for MGM China reached approximately HK$8.9 billion, marking a 5% annual increase, while the adjusted EBITDA hit an impressive HK$2.4 billion. Both metrics set unprecedented records for any third-quarter period in the company's history. Notably, the group's market share achieved a historic peak of 17.1%, a significant rise bolstered by MGM COTAI capturing a 10.5% share and MGM MACAU holding 6.6%.
Occupancy rates also reflected the positive trends, climbing to 94.1%, up from 93.5% during the same period last year. Analyzing performances per property, MGM COTAI generated approximately HK$5.4 billion in revenue while MGM MACAU realized HK$3.5 billion. Adjusted EBITDA figures followed suit, with MGM COTAI at HK$1.52 billion and MGM MACAU at HK$865 million.
MGM China's robust financial standing has ensured it maintains a strong liquidity position, boasting around HK$25.6 billion as of September 30, 2026. This figure consists of bank balances, cash, and available revolvers, illustrating the company's effective financial management practices. The upward trend is anticipated to carry into the fourth quarter, as property visitation during the Golden Week holiday noted an additional 10% upsurge year-on-year.
Kenneth Feng, the Chief Executive Officer of MGM China, remarked, "The high-end market segment remains a growth driver. The favorable reception of our upgraded products and premium spaces underscores our adept understanding of the Macau market and our team's capability in forecasting changing customer preferences."
Continuing the momentum, MGM China has embarked on renovation projects to enhance its offerings further. Following the suite upgrades earlier in the year at MGM COTAI, around 100 suites at MGM MACAU are now scheduled for renovation. Feng elaborated on the strategic efforts: "This initiative is aimed at optimizing our assets, enhancing competitiveness, and complementing the positioning of our portfolio. We are dedicated to establishing MGM MACAU as the premier venue on the Peninsula and reaffirming MGM COTAI as the go-to choice for premium travelers."
MGM China Holdings Limited, with its focus on creating luxurious and engaging experiences, remains pivotal in transforming Macau into a world-class, diversified tourist hub. With a dedicated commitment to innovative offerings and exceptional service, MGM China continues to solidify its leadership position in the Greater China's gaming and hospitality sectors.
In summary, MGM China's impressive third-quarter results reflect not only the company's strategic prowess but also highlight the recovery trajectory of Macau's tourism industry. The continuous enhancement of properties, along with a keen understanding of market trends, positions MGM China favorably for sustained success in the competitive gaming landscape.
