Hexagon Expands Public Safety Capabilities with CONET Communications Acquisition

Hexagon Strengthens Public Safety Solutions Through Acquisition

In a strategic move aimed at enhancing public safety services, Hexagon AB has reached an agreement to acquire the Unified Communications Radio Suite (UCRS) assets from CONET Communications GmbH. This acquisition, aimed at bolstering their existing public safety platform, signifies a major step forward in consolidated communications technology for emergency response agencies.

UCRS is recognized for its ability to provide a high-performance communication framework ideal for control centers. It integrates various communication channels, allowing seamless operation with systems like Private Branch Exchange (PBX), mobile networks, digital radio, and even video surveillance infrastructure. This means agencies will be better equipped to manage diverse communication needs efficiently.

As noted by Norbert Hanke, interim President and CEO of Hexagon, “Seamless communication is essential in emergency situations. Public safety agencies require robust communication channels. The incorporation of CONET’s product suite naturally extends Hexagon's technology capabilities.” The recent acquisition is not just a growth opportunity; it’s an investment in the firm’s commitment to innovation and customer service in public safety.

One notable success of the existing Hexagon-CONET collaboration is the Kassel Fire Brigade, which has already benefited from the integration of these two technology solutions to enhance their emergency management and response capabilities. The seamless merging of these systems suggests a transformative ripple effect across public safety operations well beyond Kassel.

Hexagon sees the potential for the UCRS product suite to significantly contribute to their revenue stream, projecting earnings of around 10 MEUR for 2025, with margins anticipated to align closely with sector averages. As part of this acquisition plan, approximately 50 CONET employees are set to join Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial division once regulatory approvals and customary conditions are met. The transaction is expected to finalize by the end of Q2 2025.

This strategic acquisition illustrates the growing importance of integrated solutions for public safety. As emergencies increasingly demand rapid and reliable communications, the UCRS suite offers a strong addition to Hexagon's technology arsenal, fostering more effective responses to crises.

“By strengthening our capabilities with the UCRS integration, we will continue to advance our solutions tailored for public safety clients, ensuring that tomorrow's innovation supports today’s real-world needs,” Hanke added, underscoring the company's future-forward thinking.

As Hexagon gears up to complete this acquisition, it reinforces its position as a leader in public safety technology, dedicated to empowering agencies with the tools necessary for effective communication and operational success amidst challenges.
