VARTA Launches Lithium-Ion Batteries for Leisure Activities to Ensure Long Lasting Power

VARTA Launches New Lithium-Ion Battery Range for Leisure Activities

In recent years, the enthusiasm for outdoor activities has soared across Europe, with many embracing the freedom of travel in motorhomes and boats. Recognizing this trend, VARTA, a leading brand under Clarios, has introduced a new line of lithium-ion batteries specifically designed for independent recreational applications. This latest offering promises not only to enhance the user experience but also to set a new standard in portable power solutions.

Features of VARTA's New Lithium-Ion Batteries

The newly launched VARTA lithium-ion batteries are available in six different types, ranging from 50 Ah to 200 Ah, offering a variety of sizes to suit various needs. One of the standout features of these batteries is their lightweight design, crucial for those looking to maximize available cargo space in their vehicles. Compared to traditional AGM lead-acid batteries of the same size, VARTA’s lithium-ion options are around 55% lighter, allowing for more effective load management.

In terms of performance, these batteries deliver more usable energy and have a longer lifespan. They can be fully charged in just two to three hours, providing up to double the usable capacity compared to conventional batteries. This efficiency is achieved thanks to an impressive 80% depth of discharge (DoD), meaning that up to 80% of the battery’s nominal capacity can be utilized during operation.

Smart Features for Enhanced User Experience

VARTA has also equipped its batteries with features that enhance usability and monitoring. For instance, the batteries offer Bluetooth connectivity, allowing users to connect to a mobile app that tracks battery performance and status in real-time. This app provides essential information, including state of charge, overall health, cycle count, internal temperature, and alarms for battery management system functions.

Additionally, models with capacities of 100 and 150 Ah include connections to modern CI-BUS onboard management systems, further integrating battery management into the overall energy management ecosystem of recreational vehicles.

Durability and Adaptability in Any Environment

Designed to withstand harsh conditions, the VARTA lithium-ion batteries boast features like a built-in heating function for the 100 and 150 Ah variants, enabling camping in winter conditions or marine use. They are certified to operate reliably in damp environments, with all models except for the 50 Ah variant meeting IP67 protection standards. This means they are resistant to dust, dirt, and water jets, and can even function after being temporarily submerged in water up to one meter deep for 30 minutes.

The specialized low-temperature versions equipped with cell heating technology allow for charging in colder weather, further expanding the operational temperature range.
