The Launch of the JAMM Association
In a progressive move for the minpaku (private lodging) sector in Japan,
matsuri technologies Inc. has announced its membership in the newly formed
Japan Association of Minpaku & Small Accommodation Management (JAMM). This association, established on
September 30, 2025, aims to connect operators and managers of minpaku and small accommodation facilities, fostering healthy market practices and community engagement. The president of matsuri technologies,
Keita Yoshida, has taken the helm as the representative director of JAMM.
Background of JAMM's Establishment
With the surge of international tourists visiting Japan, the minpaku and small accommodation market has rapidly expanded, becoming vital for addressing diverse lodging needs and contributing to local economies. These establishments cater to long-term stays and the authentic experiences of local cultures that traditional hotels may not provide. They also stimulate local spending and broaden business opportunities for area service providers.
However, issues stemming from illegal or problematic minpaku facilities have arisen, causing neighborhood disputes that need resolution. In light of these challenges, key stakeholders in the minpaku sector have convened to take charge of the market’s healthy development and ensure coexistence with the community. JAMM's mission includes forming partnerships with government entities to strengthen regulations against illegal accommodations while advocating for a sustainable and fair market for all stakeholders.
Member Companies at Inception
The founding members of JAMM as of September 30, 2025, include:
- - matsuri technologies Inc.
- - DRILL Corporation
- - FDS Corporation
- - Unito Corporation
- - WeIns Corporation
These members set the foundation for JAMM, with plans to expand their network of associates going forward.
Key Activities
JAMM intends to pursue several initiatives to nurture the appropriate and healthy growth of the minpaku and small accommodation sector:
1.
Promotion of Healthy Minpaku: By facilitating compliance with laws through checklists, promoting community coexistence activities, and clarifying legitimate operators on the association's website, JAMM aims to enhance the overall integrity of the industry.
2.
Policy Proposals and Public Relations: Engaging in dialogue with government and local authorities to advocate for improvements in policies and to relay the industry's voice effectively, while also sharing examples of community engagement by member companies to raise awareness.
3.
Collaboration with Government: Promoting partnerships for a shared approach to tackle illegal and problematic minpaku facilities, thereby fostering a robust connection between local businesses and administrative bodies.
4.
Strengthening Inter-Member Collaboration: Through seminars and by providing operational guidance, JAMM will support the development of networks and improve standards across member companies.
Profile of the Representative Director
Keita Yoshida, serving as JAMM’s representative director, founded matsuri technologies in 2016. Under his leadership, the company has innovated systems for the minpaku and small accommodation sector. He introduced unique models combining residential and lodging services and has initiated various projects connecting inbound travelers with local communities since establishing the
Housing Accommodation Council in 2022.
Representative Director’s Statement
“Minpaku and small accommodation facilities are essential pieces in Japan's goal toward becoming a tourism-oriented nation. By utilizing these options, international visitors can foster a deeper understanding and connection to local areas, encouraging them to return. While challenges from illegal and problematic establishments exist, treating all businesses equally poses a moral hazard and invites negative impacts in the long term. If all stakeholders, including operators and government agencies, fulfill their roles constructively, I believe we can design a promising system for sustainable resolutions going forward. At JAMM, we are committed to making industry initiatives visible while advocating for the proliferation of safe and sound minpaku options.”
