LOGISTEC Enhances Gulf Coast Operations with New Cranes at Houston Terminal

LOGISTEC Boosts Gulf Coast Operations with New Cranes

LOGISTEC, a prominent marine and logistics service provider in North America, recently announced the operational launch of two 120-ton harbor cranes at the Port of Houston's Care Terminal. This addition marks a significant step in LOGISTEC's long-term strategy for the Gulf Coast, reinforcing the terminal's vital position as a key hub within the company's expansive network in North America.

Care Terminal, which is operated by Gulf Stream Marine (part of the LOGISTEC network), specializes in stevedoring and offers terminal services for various cargo types. With the integration of these new cranes, Care Terminal is equipped to handle heavier and more complex project shipments, thereby supporting global supply chains and improving access to the Gulf Coast region.

Sean Pierce, CEO of LOGISTEC, emphasized the strategic importance of the Gulf Coast in North America’s supply chain. He stated, "The Gulf Coast plays a crucial role in the nation's energy, manufacturing, and project cargo activities. Our collaboration with the Port of Houston reflects our long-term commitment to enhancing infrastructure and connectivity, thereby boosting global competitiveness. By investing in contemporary infrastructure, we ensure the efficient and safe movement of cargo in this region for years to come."

Port Houston, a historical player in the region’s maritime activities, has been integral to its operations for over a century. Charlie Jenkins, CEO of Port Houston, highlighted that Care Terminal is part of the largest project cargo port complex in North America, with direct access to the Houston Ship Channel, the busiest waterway in the U.S. He noted that LOGISTEC's new investments bolster the region’s capabilities to meet growing demand for specialized cargo. "These investments will help us fulfill our mission of fostering maritime economic development," Jenkins remarked.

The installation of the new cranes is the first phase of a broader investment initiative at Care Terminal. This multi-stage program aims to revamp berthing areas, upgrade rail and yard facilities, expand storage capacities, and improve access and circulation within the terminal. Such enhancements will not only increase throughput but also ensure higher safety standards while preparing for the anticipated growth of complex industrial cargo as activity in the Gulf Coast escalates.

Additionally, LOGISTEC's investments are supported by the LOGISTEC Direct initiative, which connects operations at Care Terminal with transportation modalities such as trucking, rail, warehousing, and distribution across its North American operations. By streamlining processes and enhancing visibility, LOGISTEC Direct promotes expedited cargo movement, facilitating a seamless logistics experience for clients engaged in regional and international markets.
