Tennr Brings Maulik Shah on Board as General Manager for Health Systems
Tennr, a pioneering company in automating the workflows involved in referral-based care, recently announced the appointment of Maulik Shah as General Manager of Health Systems. This strategic move reflects Tennr's commitment to enhancing operational efficiency and improving patient care within the healthcare sector.
Maulik Shah comes with a wealth of experience in health systems, having dedicated his career to enhancing how these institutions function. His journey began at Epic, where he played a crucial role in implementing Electronic Health Records (EHRs). Following this, he worked with Huron, advising hospitals on optimizing the use of EHRs to ensure clinicians could provide better care. Most recently, he was involved with Ambience, utilizing ambient AI to enhance efficiency for healthcare providers. Over the last decade, he has contributed significantly to efforts that have helped hospitals reduce costs, bridge care gaps, and ultimately allow clinicians to focus more time on patient interaction.
The healthcare landscape is increasingly challenging. Health systems are grappling with financial pressures, workforce shortages, strict regulatory requirements, and rapid technological advancements. Many systems recognize the need for improvement but often lack the resources and tools necessary for implementing changes across their complicated workflows. Shah emphasizes that his motivation to join Tennr stems from the desire to assist health systems in overcoming these barriers to care delivery.
"I've witnessed the dedication with which clinicians work amid these constraints, which has driven my passion for helping to open more doors for care," Shah stated. He noted that during his initial conversations with Trey Holterman, CEO and Co-Founder of Tennr, he was impressed by the company’s focus on people and performance. Shah appreciates that Tennr values relationships and defines success through tangible outcomes rather than just as a metric of technological advancement.
Holterman expressed his enthusiasm about having Shah on board, stating, "I was intimidated meeting Maulik for the first time, given his impressive credentials and experience. However, I recognized that we had a significant opportunity ahead of us to fill a vital role in our organization. As we began collaborating with major healthcare institutions to address patient access and manage care backlogs, it became clear that we needed someone with Maulik's extensive background to guide us. There simply isn't anyone better positioned to extend the reach of the Tennr platform within health systems."
In his new role, Shah will focus on streamlining processes related to referral qualification, ensuring that patient access is optimized, and that reimbursements are received accurately and promptly. By addressing the administrative barriers that often slow down care delivery, Tennr aims to improve financial performance for hospitals, allowing healthcare professionals to better serve their patients.
