Three Startups Selected for the FOODTECH Global Expansion Program 2025



The FOODTECH Global Expansion Program, managed by the CIC Institute, has selected three pioneering startups for its 2025 initiative. This program, aimed at supporting startups in achieving global expansion, will focus on enhancing these companies' offerings and connecting them with international stakeholders.

The Selected Startups


The following three startups have been chosen for their innovative contributions to the food tech industry:

1. Quantum Flowers & Foods Inc.


Quantum Flowers & Foods is a deep-tech company that integrates quantum technology with biotechnology. They specialize in neutron beam breeding technology to support the development of biological resources. Through innovative techniques utilizing the unique properties of neutron beams, they assist in the swift development of useful plant and microbial varieties without genetic modification. This approach not only ensures rapid growth but also aligns with growing consumer demands for non-GMO products.

2. Sea Vegetable LLC


Sea Vegetable has specialized in cultivating mother algae to produce seedlings, which leads to the mass production of various seaweeds. Their comprehensive approach encompasses developing new preservation and processing methods, engaging in culinary development, and creating a new food culture. Starting from a base of land-based cultivation for the nearly extinct species known as “sujiaonori,” they have established production techniques for various other sea vegetables that are in decline, such as “habanori,” “tosakanori,” and “suna.” They plan to expand their operations to include black seaweed and kelp soon.

3. Toy Medical Co., Ltd.


Toy Medical has developed a technology that utilizes alginate, a dietary fiber derived from seaweed, to help reduce sodium absorption in the body. Their flagship products include supplements that inhibit salt absorption and food additives that assist food manufacturers and restaurants in implementing salt-reducing solutions. This innovative approach aims to offer alternatives that do not compromise taste while decreasing sodium intake, distinguishing them from traditional low-salt dietary options.
