TERRADA ART AWARD 2025 Finalist Exhibition
Starting from January 16 and running until February 1, 2026, TERRADA Warehouse in Tokyo's Shinagawa ward will host the "TERRADA ART AWARD 2025 Finalist Exhibition." This exhibition is designed to spotlight the talents of emerging artists and support their journey within the contemporary art scene.
The TERRADA ART AWARD seeks to provide a platform for new artistic voices, and this year's finalists include Daike Kuroda, Yuki Kobayashi, Sakura Koretsune, Yusuke Taninaka, and Krea Fujita. Each finalist will present their works in a solo exhibition format, showcasing new and previously unpublished works. The exhibition will take place in the renovated event space G3-6F at TERRADA Warehouse, where each artist can develop and expand on their original display concept.
In addition to the artwork presentation, there will be an award ceremony held on the day before the exhibition opens. This pivotal event will see esteemed jurors, including Takahiro Kaneshima, Yukie Kamiya, Yuki Terase, Daito Manabe, and Meruro Washida, present prizes to the finalists. Finalist Display Plans (In Alphabetical Order)
Daike Kuroda
Kuroda focuses on the unnoticed presences in the urban landscape, drawing on various investigations to create compelling works that explore empathy and resistance. In his latest work, he presents a performance interpreting discussions among sculptors regarding Constantin Brâncuși’s abstract expressions, especially his renowned piece, "Bird in Space," in the context of post-war Japan.
Yuki Kobayashi
Kobayashi examines the interdisciplinary performance project titled "The Wing Chun Project," which takes inspiration from Southern Chinese martial arts. He shares his journey of learning and exchanging knowledge related to this form, which has deep historical ties to East Asia's conflicts and colonial narrative.
Sakura Koretsune
Through explorations of humanity’s relationship with whales, Koretsune has gathered materials derived from historical whaling practices that now hold little relevance. By crafting imaginative toys, she seeks to preserve forgotten techniques and provoke discourse surrounding these fading materials.
Yusuke Taninaka
Questioning the conventional understanding of the body through the lens of productivity, Taninaka invites us to consider the potential for collective social interaction. His work opens discussions on healing and agency, emphasizing the importance of coexistence beyond mere functionality.
Krea Fujita
Fujita reflects on the fast-paced nature of contemporary life and the diminishing time people spend relating with one another. She draws inspiration from the responsiveness of plants to their surroundings and aims to visualize these interactions, fostering a sense of connection with nature and others amidst the chaos of modernity.
