The 7th China International Import Expo: A Successful Conclusion
The 7th China International Import Expo (CIIE) wrapped up on November 10 in Shanghai, marking a significant milestone in global trade and international cooperation. With an impressive total of $80.01 billion in preliminary business negotiations, this edition experienced a 2% increase compared to the previous year, underscoring the Expo's growing importance as a platform for fostering relationships across borders.
A Gathering of Nations
The CIIE attracted participation from 77 countries and international organizations spanning all five continents. Each participant brought their unique cultural influences, national identities, and cutting-edge technologies into the exhibition stands. This year, the Expo hosted over 3,496 companies from 129 nations and regions. Notably, 1,585 of these were from 104 countries aligned with the Belt and Road Initiative, while 1,106 came from 13 nations involved in the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, showcasing the event's broad geographical reach and significance.
Attendees were treated to a plethora of engaging events, with more than 200 dynamic presentations and demonstrations designed to highlight innovative projects and technologies. The inclusion of diverse sectors highlighted the economic vitality and creative spirit present at the CIIE.
Innovation Driving New Business Opportunities
One of the standout features of the 7th CIIE was the Innovation Incubation section, which showcased 360 innovative projects from 34 countries, aimed at boosting the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and startups. Additionally, multinational companies unveiled 450 new products, services, and technologies, marking over 100 global debuts, 40 premieres in Asia, and 200 first-time launches in China. These key introductions are expected to catalyze demand for new consumer goods and innovative solutions, steering market trends for the coming years.
Engaging Dialogues at the Hongqiao International Economic Forum
Another critical component of the CIIE was the Hongqiao International Economic Forum (HQF), which served as a vital platform for international dialogue on pressing global issues. The 7th HQF attracted over 8,600 registrations and brought together more than 300 esteemed experts and leaders from politics, industry, and academia. This year’s forum also saw the launch of the World Openness Report 2024 and the World Openness Index, both underlining the commitment to openness and collaboration in global business practices.
