Yutong Bus, a renowned leader in the commercial vehicle industry, has once again made headlines with its latest innovation, the T15E electric coach. This high-end vehicle recently faced an extreme cold endurance challenge in Finland, showcasing its exceptional performance and capability under frigid conditions. After earlier successful tests in Norway and Kazakhstan, the T15E’s performance in Finland has further solidified its reputation.

The challenge tested the T15E's resilience as it traversed a harsh 250-kilometer journey from Oulu to Rovaniemi, all while experiencing temperatures as low as -20°C. This rigorous drive not only evaluated the bus's energy management systems but also its overall driving performance in adverse weather. Over the course of the 2.5-hour trek, the T15E displayed outstanding capabilities in battery efficiency, stability, hill climbing, and cornering, impressing all those involved with its precision handling and luxurious ride quality.

Media representatives Juho Akseli Käki and Tom Alexander Terjesen noted the innovative features of the T15E, including cutting-edge suspension seats and elegantly designed ambient interior lighting, which enhanced the travel experience further. In a follow-up test, the T15E embarked on an extended 609.8-kilometer route from Oulu to Helsinki, maintaining its prowess in the intense cold. The journey concluded with the battery’s state of charge dropping from full to just two percent, demonstrating an impressive energy consumption rate of merely 0.94 kWh/km.

Victor Wang, a product engineer at Yutong Bus, expressed his satisfaction with the T15E’s performance, stating, “Through rigorous testing in Arctic ice and snow conditions, the Yutong T15E has proven its ability to maintain stable performance during ultimate range in extreme cold environments. The over-600-kilometer range meets the diverse needs of long-distance premium coach services.”

The T15E's success is attributed to its advanced technologies, including a high-energy-density battery with an impressive 630 kWh capacity. This is complemented by an advanced liquid cooling and heating management system that enhances efficiency in cold weather. Notably, the vehicle’s permanent magnet synchronous motor achieves remarkable peak efficiency of up to 97.5%, making it highly effective in energy conservation.

Furthermore, the T15E is designed for rapid recharging, sporting megawatt-level fast charging capabilities that facilitate a complete recharge in just over an hour. It is fully compatible with mainstream charging stations across Europe, ensuring seamless operation for transport operators.

Safety remains a top priority for Yutong, as evidenced by the T15E’s array of advanced safety features. These include an Electronic Braking System (EBS), an Electronic Stability Program (ESP), and a Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS), contributing to a safe and reliable experience for long-distance travel.
