Fujisawa Sustainable Smart Town Launches Eco-Friendly App

The overarching goal is to foster a community where living in the Fujisawa SST translates to a significant contribution towards achieving a carbon-neutral society.

Fujisawa SST has historically focused on sustainable living, marking its 10th anniversary this year with new initiatives aimed at carbon neutrality. All residential units are equipped with solar panels and energy-efficient technologies, providing residents with the unique opportunity to positively impact the environment simply by participating in everyday life.

This project will create local economic circulation through contributions to environmental values, such as carbon credits, ultimately making sustainable community development a reality for both corporations and individuals.

Project Details

Phase One: Earn Points and Contribute to the Environment

From August 1, 2025, the residents of Fujisawa SST will receive invitations to participate in the project. The initial task for participants will involve earning points by engaging in accessible everyday actions. Here’s how participants can contribute:

1. Install the Pucre App
2. Walk Regularly (the app is linked with health tracking software)
3. Check-In to various locations within the community

The contributions will primarily benefit carbon credit-generating businesses based within Fujisawa and the broader Kanagawa Prefecture.

Phase Two: Use Points to Further Environmental Efforts

The points earned by participants can be utilized starting from the fall of 2025, effectively acting as carbon credit coupons redeemable for products and services from participating companies. This means that each point can be transitioned to businesses, thereby aiding them in their carbon offset initiatives. The potential redemption options include drink vouchers and cosmetics, with future collaborations planned with local Fujisawa SST businesses.

Significance of the Collaboration Between Fujisawa SST and Pucre

The initiative marks a pioneering model toward sustainable carbon neutrality. Since its establishment in 2014, Fujisawa SST has made substantial strides in sustainable urban development, now boasting over 2,000 residents and attracting additional community members. The town has conducted over 100 collaborative pilot projects and marketing studies, contributing extensively to the blueprint of smart cities.

By integrating the Pucre app's environmental value circulation ecosystem, Fujisawa SST aims to establish a leading example of carbon-neutral cities worldwide.
