New OBC Data Dashboard Revolutionizes K-12 Education Funding Strategies

In an innovative leap for K-12 education, the Center for Outcomes Based Contracting has launched the Outcomes Based Contracting (OBC) Data Dashboard. This pioneering digital platform aims to transform how schools manage funding, ensuring that financial investments are directly aligned with student outcomes. Through enhanced visibility and real-time tracking, this dashboard promises to streamline the connection between educational services and their effectiveness.

Traditionally, many districts faced challenges in aligning their spending with student success. Much effort went into navigating complex procurement processes, frequently leaving educators with a fragmented view of data and outcomes. The newly introduced OBC Data Dashboard directly addresses these challenges. By flipping the procurement model, the Center emphasizes results — school districts will now invest in educational services based on measurable success rather than routine processes.

Why Outcomes Based Contracting Matters

The OBC Data Dashboard uses a model where at least 40% of payments to service providers are based on achieving specific student performance metrics. This transforms the idea of educational funding from mere service provision to a focus on actual student results. The dashboard gives districts and educational providers unprecedented access to real-time information regarding student progress, implementation quality, and eligibility for performance-related payments.

Brittany Miller, the executive director and chief innovation officer of the Center, explains, “The promise of outcomes based contracting is simple; dollars should follow results. But that only works if districts and providers can actually see what's happening as it happens.
