The Unveiling of TRADMAN'S BONSAI × Seiko Presage Collaboration
A new chapter in watchmaking is set to unfold with the exciting collaboration between
TRADMAN'S BONSAI and
Seiko Presage. Under the guidance of Teppei Kojima, CEO of Matsubaya Co., Ltd., this unique model showcases a stunning intersection of traditional Japanese aesthetics and contemporary design. Starting September 5, 2026, only 600 pieces will be available for pre-order, marking this limited edition collection as a significant statement in the watch industry.
A Symbol of Cultural Heritage
TRADMAN’S BONSAI has dedicated itself to promoting the beauty of Japanese culture through the art of bonsai. This ancient craft encapsulates scenes of nature, seasons, and the passage of time through a single tree. The fusion of this ethos with Seiko’s commitment to expressing Japan’s distinct aesthetic via mechanical watches brings forth a product that truly represents a cultural dialogue.
The design of the collaboration model reflects the serene imagery of a
black pine illuminated by the moonlight, a visual motif that was inspired by discussions between the two brands. The black pine, renowned in the bonsai world, embodies vitality and resilience, flourishing even in harsh environments. This profound imagery has been translated into the elements of the watch's design.
Design Inspirations from Nature
The watch features a green gradient dial that evokes the gentle glow of moonlight on the black pine, complemented by a gold-colored case, hands, and indices that signify elegance and sophistication. A unique three-dimensional embossing technique has been applied to the dial, mirroring the strong trunk and textured bark of the black pine, highlighting its natural beauty and the grace of its branches. The classic series' signature curved dial is further enhanced by a glossy finish, adding depth and vibrancy, reminiscent of the life cycle of bonsai under moonlight.
Detail-oriented Craftsmanship
Beyond the visible form of the watch, its essence is deeply rooted in bonsai philosophy. The watch comes with a genuine leather strap, embossed to resemble the bark of the black pine. Inside, it bears the engraved leaves of the
san-ko no matsu, a symbol of good fortune. Additionally, the back case features the TRADMAN'S BONSAI logo and a limited-edition serial number, ensuring its exclusivity.
To complement the watch, a carefully crafted storage box is included, made from
paulownia wood, which has been traditionally used in Japan for preserving valuable items. The box houses not only the watch but also a specialized watch cloth and a message card, further underscoring the meticulous attention to detail prevalent in Japanese culture.
