National CRNA Week 2026
From January 18 to 24, 2026, U.S. Anesthesia Partners (USAP) proudly commemorates National CRNA Week. This important observance recognizes the indispensable role certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs) play in providing safe and high-quality anesthesia care to patients throughout the United States.
CRNAs are vital healthcare professionals who specialize in the administration of anesthesia and pain management. They are a trusted presence in a variety of medical settings including operating rooms, ambulatory surgery centers, and rural hospitals. Their expertise ensures that patients receive effective and secure anesthesia management throughout their surgical experiences, making their role crucial to patient safety and comfort.
As Bree Brown, a Chief CRNA at USAP, explains, "Being a CRNA is a calling and profession that is very fulfilling. The patients, my colleagues, and our culture of care allow me to know every day—even on the harder ones—that I've made a positive difference in people's lives." This sentiment echoes the passion and dedication that many CRNAs feel toward their profession.
The importance of CRNAs cannot be overstated, especially as the demand for anesthesia services continues to grow. Currently, there is a significant shortage of anesthesia providers in the U.S., which underscores the need for initiatives to support and expand the workforce in this field.
In response to this challenge, USAP organizes the annual Future Leaders in Anesthesia Conference. This event brings promising CRNA students from various institutions together with experienced clinicians from USAP. It provides mentorship, leadership training, and key insights into the profession, reinforcing USAP’s commitment to the development and future of CRNAs across the country. Last year, a regional workshop in Chicago saw participation from 55 aspiring CRNAs, highlighting the organization's dedication to nurturing the next generation of professionals.
The career path of a CRNA offers significant benefits, including flexible work environments, autonomy in practice, and competitive salaries, rendering it one of the most rewarding roles within healthcare. CRNAs have the opportunity to work in diverse practice settings, take on leadership roles, and significantly impact both patient outcomes and safety.
Chris Hazen, a CRNA associated with USAP, shared his career reflection in a 2025 article on Yahoo Finance, stating, "Nearly two decades ago, I made the decision to become a CRNA, and I can confidently say it was the best professional choice I've ever made." His words resonate with many who have chosen this path, showcasing the fulfilling nature of the profession.
USAP extends heartfelt appreciation to all its CRNAs who demonstrate unwavering dedication and excellence in care. Their contributions are essential to ensuring that patients receive the highest quality of anesthesia care, which is especially critical in today’s healthcare landscape.
