About 4v4 Soccer

4v4 is an innovative version of soccer focused on youth involvement. Keisuke Honda, a notable figure in Japan's soccer world, designed this game format to foster independence and critical thinking in young players. Crucially, it allows children to participate without the oversight of coaches, empowering them to make decisions on the field—an essential skill for their future.

Matches consist of ten-minute games with unlimited substitutions, encouraging active participation. The introduction of a 20-second shot clock adds an exciting dynamic, pushing players to perform under time constraints.

Throughout the season, players can accumulate points to qualify for national-level events like the JAPAN CUP, further motivating them to improve their game and encouraging a sense of community and achievement.

Supporting Organizations

The event is co-hosted by KDDI, a telecommunications company in Japan that supports various initiatives aimed at helping children develop essential skills. KDDI is committed to enhancing youth soccer in Japan and believes in nurturing the next generation of players who will contribute to the nation’s sports culture.

Besides supporting 4v4, KDDI actively promotes sustainability and community engagement through their programming and sponsorship of various sports-related media channels.
