EG Testing Service Updates Web Accessibility Diagnosis
EG Testing Service, a group company of e-Guardian, has announced a significant update to its
Web Accessibility Diagnosis, set to take effect on
May 28, 2025. This upgrade aligns the service with the internationally recognized standards
WCAG 2.1 and
WCAG 2.2, enhancing the usability of websites for all users, regardless of their abilities or circumstances.
The e-Guardian Group is committed to creating a safe and secure internet environment, providing a suite of services including internet patrol, customer support, debugging, and vulnerability assessment. EG Testing Service specializes in testing software and hardware for games, websites, and mobile applications, serving as a certified third-party verification service. This new enhancement aligns with the
Act on the Elimination of Discrimination against Persons with Disabilities, which mandates both public and private sectors to ensure accessibility.
Since 2021, in anticipation of the law's enactment in April 2024, EG Testing Service has been offering web accessibility diagnostics to support the development of barrier-free websites. The law is based on
JIS X 8341-3, which utilizes
WCAG 2.0 as its standards. As the WCAG has evolved, significant updates have been introduced in the latest versions, particularly focusing on the needs of users with cognitive and learning disabilities, individuals with low vision, and those utilizing mobile devices. With Japan moving towards revisions of JIS X 8341-3, compliance with WCAG 2.2 is expected to become essential.
Why WCAG 2.1 and WCAG 2.2 Matter
The adherence to
WCAG 2.1 and
WCAG 2.2 supports the initiative for creating more accessible websites for everyone, irrespective of their physical abilities or the devices they use. By improving usability across diverse platforms including personal computers, smartphones, and tablets, the updates can significantly increase accessibility for individuals who have visual limitations, motor function challenges, or cognitive differences.
Moreover, responding to the diverse needs of users not only enhances the quality of websites but also positively impacts the corporate image. Companies that prioritize web accessibility demonstrate their commitment to inclusivity, thereby improving their public perception.
The e-Guardian Group remains steadfast in delivering high-quality services. They aim to develop products and services that enrich people’s lives while upholding their mission,
“We Guard All.”
