Coolita Establishes Indonesia's First Industry Alliance for Fast Streaming Media

In a landmark move for Indonesia's digital landscape, Coolita has initiated the FAST Media Alliance, the country’s first dedicated industry group focused on FAST (Free Ad-Supported Streaming TV). This alliance, launched in Jakarta, brings together leading broadcasters, technology firms, and media organizations aiming to accelerate the digital transformation of television in the region.

The establishment of the FAST Media Alliance is a collaborative effort between Coolita and the China Intercontinental Communication Center (CICC). Among its founding members are prominent state and private broadcasting companies such as TVRI, Metro TV, GARUDA TV, BTV, Jawa Pos Multimedia, and JAKTV, with support from Tencent Cloud as the technology partner. This strategic alliance seeks to combine traditional linear television broadcast formats with internet-based streaming, funded by advertising.

Globally, broadcasters are increasingly leveraging FAST to diversify their audience reach, deliver localized content to Connected Television (CTV) owners, and explore new digital distribution models. This new alliance aims to assist Indonesian broadcasters in navigating this innovative terrain by collaboratively developing FAST channels, enhancing content distribution, and fostering technological collaboration, all while maintaining the benefits of free-to-air broadcasting.

As a leading player, Coolita continues to expand its Smart TV platform across over 100 countries, serving more than 40 million users worldwide, including over five million in Indonesia alone. Its FAST service, Coolita Channel, offers users access to over 1,000 free channels encompassing news, sports, movies, and various niche interests, thus providing broadcasters with a ready-to-use platform for content dissemination via CTV.

The announcement of the new alliance took place during a series of events at the China–Indonesia Youth Cultural Exchange held in Jakarta, where industry representatives delved into discussions about the future of television, digital media, and FAST technologies. Participants recognized that as CTV gains popularity, deeper interactions between broadcasters, technology providers, and content owners will be crucial for the Indonesian television industry’s advancement.

The Indonesian FAST Media Alliance is envisioned as an open industry platform, expected to expand as more broadcasters, content rights holders, and other stakeholders who are interested in developing the FAST market in Indonesia join the initiative. This collaboration represents a significant step forward in transforming the way content is produced, distributed, and consumed in the Indonesian media landscape.

As the media industry evolves, the FAST Media Alliance positions itself at the forefront, ready to adapt to and capitalize on the changing dynamics of viewership and content delivery, ensuring that Indonesian broadcasters remain competitive in an increasingly global digital economy.

Despite any challenges in the rapidly changing media environment, the coalition aims to foster an ecosystem where innovation thrives, audiences benefit from diverse content choices, and traditional broadcasting can coexist and flourish with new media technologies. The alliance stands as a beacon of progress, guiding Indonesian broadcasters into a new era of television that blends tradition with innovation.
