In 1990, an international team consisting of members from six countries successfully completed the first-ever crossing of Antarctica using dog sleds. The expedition covered approximately 6,040 kilometers, emphasizing the importance of environmental awareness and peace in a continent that notably lacks borders.

Meet the Adventurers

Keizo Funatsu: After crossing Greenland by dog sled in 1988, he joined the Antarctic expedition. He has also participated in mid-distance dog sled racing in Alaska. Currently, he serves as the general manager of NIKI Hills Winery in Hokkaido.

Yasunaga Ogita: Known for achieving the world's first solo trek from the northernmost point of Greenland to Canada, he also set a record by reaching the South Pole solo and unsupported, becoming the first Japanese to do so in 2018. In 2021, he opened the 'Adventure Research Institute Bookstore' in Kanagawa.
