Workshop Leadership by Principal Keung

As part of the conference, Keung will lead a workshop entitled “What success looks like — Assessment for Learning (AfL).” This workshop aims to return to the core purpose of assessment, which is to support student learning and guide school improvements. Drawing inspiration from research by Jan Chappuis, Nancy Love, and Dylan Wiliam, participants will gain insights into:
1. Understanding the essential purpose of assessment as a means to support learning.
2. Interpreting classroom data meaningfully to inform instructional decisions.
3. Reconsidering formative assessment as a continuous learning process.
4. Evaluating where their own assessment practices align within the Assessment Continuum.
5. Designing reliable and meaningful assessments even within the context of AI influence.

This workshop will emphasize that assessment itself is not merely about the tools but, critically, about how the information derived is utilized. It will showcase how the practices of Assessment for Learning can act as guiding frameworks for supportive learning while highlighting the barriers posed by excessive grading and high-stakes assessments.
