Chevron Lummus Global Announces Significant Catalyst Portfolio Expansion
Chevron Lummus Global Enhances Catalyst Portfolio
Chevron Lummus Global (CLG) has recently made headlines with an important announcement regarding its catalyst business. On November 3, 2025, the company revealed a new agreement aimed at transforming the way it develops, sells, and supports its catalyst offerings. This move promises to strengthen its position in the Advanced Refining Technologies (ART) sector, particularly in producing lower carbon intensity fuels. Through this agreement, CLG is set to reshape its approach, significantly enhancing both customer experience and technical support.
This agreement comes on the heels of W.R. Grace & Co.'s acquisition of Chevron's stake in the ART joint venture, which was originally established in 2001. Now, with Grace taking full ownership, the ART portfolio has been divided, allowing CLG to adopt a suite of catalysts that will integrate seamlessly with its existing technology portfolio. Rajesh Samarth, the CEO of Chevron Lummus Global, expressed optimism about this transformative step, stating, “Expanding CLG's catalyst business will be a transformative step that will strengthen our ability to deliver more integrated technology and catalyst solutions.”
As part of this agreement, CLG will focus exclusively on developing, selling, and providing technical support for key catalyst applications. These include hydrocracking, lubes hydroprocessing, and its innovative EnHance™ isomerization portfolio geared toward renewables hydroprocessing. Meanwhile, ART will take over catalyst applications related to fixed bed resid, ebullating bed resid, distillate hydrotreating, and EnRich® for renewables hydroprocessing. This division of responsibilities aims to optimize both entities’ operations, allowing them to harness their strengths effectively.
Thomas Deman, President of Performance Catalyst Solutions at Grace, heralded this agreement as an exciting milestone that reinforces their longstanding collaboration with CLG. He affirmed Grace's commitment to the hydroprocessing catalyst industry and their dedication to delivering innovative solution and exceptional reliability that meet the evolving needs of customers.
The new structure facilitating the partnership between CLG and ART will enable both organizations to focus precisely on areas within the hydroprocessing catalyst market that align with their strategic objectives. By leveraging their unique capabilities, the companies aim to assist their clients in improving profitability through cutting-edge catalytic solutions tailored to diverse feedstocks.
