Robert Corey Clayborne Appointed as President

The Construction Industry Round Table (CIRT) has announced an exciting leadership change with the appointment of Robert Corey Clayborne as its new President, effective April 1, 2026. This transition comes after the unexpected passing of Mark Casso, who served in this position for nearly three decades. Clayborne brings a wealth of experience to the role, having dedicated over twenty years to the architecture and construction sector.

A Leader with Depth and Experience

Clayborne's appointment signals a strategic direction for CIRT, as it looks to the future. As Thomas V. Reilly, President of Turner Construction Company and Chairman of the CIRT Board of Directors expressed, “Corey Clayborne is exactly the kind of leader CIRT needs as we look to the future.” Reilly emphasized that Clayborne’s rich history in navigating complex organizations will greatly benefit CIRT’s mission.

Most recently, Clayborne held the position of Senior Vice President for Knowledge and Practice at the American Institute of Architects (AIA), where he managed a talented team and initiated successful strategies that led to unprecedented revenue growth in continuing education services. His earlier roles include serving as the Executive Vice President and CEO of AIA Virginia, along with a substantial tenure as a project manager and architect at Wiley|Wilson.

Vision for the Future

Upon being elected President, Clayborne remarked, “It is a tremendous honor and privilege to be selected as President of the Construction Industry Round Table.” Addressing the pressing challenges that the construction industry faces today, he expressed enthusiasm for collaborating with CIRT members to navigate opportunities ahead and drive transformative progress.

Greg Kelly, CEO of STV and the incoming Chairman of the CIRT Board of Directors echoed the optimism about Clayborne's leadership. He stated, “I am confident that Corey will inspire our membership and provide strong leadership as CIRT continues to address important issues facing the design, engineering, and construction industry.”

Clayborne’s credentials are impressive; he is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects, a distinction held by fewer than three percent of AIA members. His academic background includes a Bachelor of Architecture from Virginia Tech and a Master of Business Administration in Public Administration from Liberty University. He is also recognized as a Certified Association Executive and a LEED Accredited Professional, which symbolizes his commitment to sustainability in the built environment.
