Japan Professional Approach Association Launches Nationwide Approach Tour for 2026
The Japan Professional Approach Association (JPPA) has officially announced the hosting of its nationwide "Approach Tour" scheduled for 2026. This unique golf organization is dedicated to competitions specifically within a 100-yard range, aiming to attract a diverse array of participants.
Founded in 2024, JPPA began its tournament operations in September of the same year. Almost immediately, this new approach to golf gained traction, with participant numbers and membership steadily increasing from the very first year. It has become clear that the appeal of this innovative golf format, which is accessible regardless of age or experience, is resonating with many.
The Approach Tour presents a novel structure with challenges set at 90 meters or less for each hole, totaling a maximum distance of 1,200 meters across 18 holes. Participants can use up to three clubs, including a putter, which facilitates easy entry for beginners while still demanding high levels of skill and strategy from seasoned players.
Adding to the excitement, Mizuki Sudo, a rising star in the golf world, has been named the ambassador for the Approach Tour. Sudo is set to compete in the upcoming events and is also involved in promoting the sport’s appeal, aiming to draw more spectators and participants alike. In 2025, Sudo will make her tournament debut, with plans to also participate in the 2026 events.
Moreover, the approach to coverage of this tour is quite modern; endeavors include filming by YouTube channel "Chekera Golf," along with participation from numerous golf influencers on Instagram. These efforts ensure that the competition is widely broadcasted through social media and video platforms, enhancing popularity both inside and outside the event venues.
In addition to the core competitions, JPPA also organizes a variety of related events, including initiatives to support female professional golfers, thereby providing a well-rounded experience for both participants and spectators.
