Reopening Casa Gateway: A Triumph for Fire Survivors
On October 2, 2025, the California Community Foundation (CCF) celebrated a momentous occasion as residents began to return to Casa Gateway, the affordable housing community located in the scenic Pacific Palisades. The complex had faced severe challenges, especially after the devastating Palisades fire which forced many residents to evacuate. Signs of hope and resilience filled the air as residents gathered with community leaders to mark the reopening of their homes, now freshly cleaned and restored following extensive remediation efforts.
Among the residents was Lena Latiff, a 70-year-old tenant who expressed her relief and gratitude for being back in her apartment.
