Huawei Unveils Its Vision for Transportation with AI-Powered Solutions
At the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026 held in Barcelona, Huawei hosted a forum titled "Accelerate Transportation Digital Intelligence". This event served as a platform for discussions with customers, partners, and industry experts, focusing on the future of intelligent transportation and logistics. Huawei took this opportunity to unveil its vision for modern transportation, encapsulated in its initiative "Driving Mobility and Logistics into the Intelligent World," which is driven by five new, innovative solutions designed to enhance efficiency and integration in the transportation domain.
During the opening remarks, David Shi, Vice President of ICT Marketing and Solution Sales at Huawei, emphasized the company's commitment to openness, collaboration, and shared success. He underscored Huawei's goal to build a robust digital foundation that connects passenger and cargo flows, business operations, and information—thereby paving the way for a smarter transport ecosystem. By integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) across railway, road, logistics, airport, and port scenarios, Huawei aims to significantly boost safety and efficiency within the transportation sector while fostering collaboration among tourism, energy, and trade sectors.
Among the esteemed speakers at the forum was Reha Çetin, Chief Information Officer of Istanbul Grand Airport, who highlighted the airport's efforts to promote Airport 5.0 digital transformation. He discussed how cutting-edge digital technologies and Huawei's ICT expertise are enabling next-generation airport experiences. Zaiming Ren, Deputy General Manager of CRSC International, also spoke about how the Future Railway Mobile Communication System (FRMCS) optimizes train control efficiency, enhances transport capacity, and aids advanced railway systems in operating more safely and efficiently.
Carlos López Gutiérrez, Director of the Transportation Business Unit at SICE, mentioned the collaboration between SICE and Huawei to leverage AI and edge computing to improve transportation scenarios, thus enhancing infrastructure connectivity and transport system reliability. Notably, Yang Rong, Chief Engineer of Tianjin Port Group, pointed out that Tianjin Port has prioritized the integration of technologies such as 5G, AI, cloud computing, and autonomous driving into its operations, successfully managing all port functions digitally and developing intelligent horizontal transport systems that set standards for global intelligent port operations.
Huawei further highlighted five specialized solutions it has developed through collaboration with global partners. These solutions aim to cater to four main transportation scenarios, providing key advantages for each:
1. Road Transportation: Huawei introduced the Transportation Operations Coordination Center (TOCC), leveraging Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) to streamline urban transport management, enhance logistics monitoring, and facilitate travel assistance.
2. Rail Transportation: The Next-Gen Bearer Network for Operation and Dispatching ensures high reliability and low latency for secure and efficient railway communication, marking a significant step towards digital transformation in the rail sector.
3. Customs Control: In partnership with its allies, Huawei launched a big data risk control solution that efficiently integrates multi-source heterogeneous data, addressing challenges in customs risk management and enhancing the precision and efficiency of customs processes.
4. Ports: Huawei's first-ever integrated planning agent for ports, powered by chain-of-thought technology, coordinates entire port operations—reducing planning times from hours to minutes and optimizing the management of over 300 vehicles while ensuring high operational accuracy in parking positions.
The forum also marked the announcement of the world's first commercially successful fixed wireless access (FWA) 5G network deployment at 1.4 GHz for railway lines in Indonesia. This groundbreaking achievement enhances railway connectivity and offers national network coverage.
The event concluded with Huawei's commitment to continue expanding its platform and ecosystem strategies, specializing in developing transport hubs, connectivity networks, and low-altitude mobility systems. As Huawei leads the charge in transforming mobility and logistics into a smart future, it remains dedicated to fostering a digitally intelligent and integrated transportation landscape.
