Solace Power and NetComm Unveil World's First Wireless 5G Window-Mounted CPE

Innovative Wireless 5G Solutions: A Breakthrough in Connectivity

In a significant advancement for outdoor connectivity, Solace Power Inc. and NetComm Wireless have announced their strategic partnership to develop and commercialize the world's first window-mounted customer premise equipment (CPE) for 5G, which operates wirelessly. This innovative product aims to deliver high-quality 5G signal coverage outdoors while simplifying the installation process for network operators. Expected to launch evaluations in 2026, this collaboration marks a notable step in bridging the gap between high-performance wireless access and user-friendly deployment.

Addressing Challenges in Fixed Wireless Access

Currently, operators are navigating a crucial balance when it comes to Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) implementations. While exterior CPEs usually ensure a superior signal quality, they often require complex professional installations including drilling, external cabling, and costly technician visits. On the flip side, interior self-installation units, though easy to set up, yield inconsistent performance due to various housing layouts and modern building materials.

Common low-emissivity coatings used in windows can diminish 5G performance indoors by almost 50%, leading to unreliable connectivity in many homes. Neil Chaulk, CEO of Solace Power, emphasizes the need for a cost-effective and scalable solution for outdoor FWA installations. He states, “Together with NetComm, we are offering precisely that – a simple solution for operators that accelerates commercial implementations and alleviates the network capacity constraints they experience.”

A True Self-Installable Outdoor Solution

The collaboration represents an exemplary integration of Solace's wireless power transmission technology with NetComm's state-of-the-art AurusLINK CPE platform. This design allows the device to be mounted directly onto a window, receiving power wirelessly through the glass. By eliminating the traditional physical power cable, the solution surmounts the final hurdle for true self-installable outdoor 5G deployment.

Operators will now be able to provide the ease of indoor installation while maximizing the efficiency and signal quality typical of an external radio installation.

Intelligent Power for Global Deployment

The new device comes equipped with smart energy transfer capabilities, designed to function across a diverse range of residential window types globally. It enables a single CPE design compatible with roughly 98% of residential windows worldwide. The AurusLINK platform efficiently optimizes power transfer, intelligently adapting to low-emissivity windows that may have one to three panes of glass of varying thicknesses.

Adrian Macarthur-King, CEO of NetComm, highlighted the long-standing objective of enabling cable-free CPE for outdoor use. “We have been exploring this option for many years, seeking the right technology that would make it viable at scale,” he noted, praising Solace's advancements in wireless power technology which now allows them to seamlessly integrate this capability into their next-generation CPE for FWA.

Availability and Upcoming Events

The collaboration between Solace and NetComm is set to transition from technical demonstration to commercial development, providing operators with a reliable evaluation process throughout 2026. The wireless window-mounted 5G CPE will be made available for technical evaluations and early proof-of-concept trials.

NetComm plans to showcase this innovative solution at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona in 2026, in booth 5F85. Interested operators are encouraged to reach out to either Solace or NetComm for more information about participating in the trials.

Additionally, Solace will showcase its latest advancements in wireless energy transmission for the telecommunications and automotive industries at CES 2026, located at the Gentex Corporation stand.
