Southwire Expands Leadership Team
Southwire, a prominent name in the wire and cable industry, recently announced strategic changes within its executive leadership structure, aiming to enhance its operational effectiveness and responsiveness to market demands. This bold move will see the introduction of two new executive positions and a restructuring of existing roles to better align with the company’s growth strategies.
New Executive Positions Created
To meet the evolving needs of the market, Southwire has created two significant new roles: the Executive Vice President (EVP) for the Residential and Commercial Group, and the EVP for the Utility and Industrial Group. These positions are designed to concentrate leadership on critical sectors of the business and facilitate targeted growth initiatives.
Moreover, the current position of EVP of Operational Excellence has evolved into the EVP of Operations, which will carry expanded responsibilities across the operational spectrum. All three of these key executive positions will report directly to Chief Operating Officer Norman Adkins, ensuring a well-coordinated approach to operational management and strategy.
Leadership Promotions
As part of this restructuring, Juan Hernandez, who has been with Southwire since 1997, has been promoted to EVP of the Residential and Commercial Group. Having served in various capacities, including his recent role as Senior Vice President of Infrastructure, Hernandez brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the industry to his new position.
In addition, Veronica Braker will continue her influential role within the executive leadership team but will carry expanded responsibilities. Having joined Southwire last year, Braker has been pivotal in driving various strategic initiatives, including environmental health and safety and operational excellence. As the new EVP of Operations, she will oversee all operations and manufacturing activities across the enterprise, solidifying her position as a key player in the organization’s success.
Welcoming New Talent
Southwire eagerly anticipates welcoming Rohan Kelkar, who joins as EVP of the Utility and Industrial Group. Kelkar's impressive background includes his most recent role as EVP at Schneider Electric, overseeing the global Power Products business. He also brings over two decades of executive experience from General Electric, where he held various leadership roles. Kelkar’s multifaceted expertise encompasses strategy, global operations, research and development, and product management, positioning him as a vital asset in steering Southwire's utility and industrial sectors towards success.
Leadership’s Vision Going Forward
In statements regarding the leadership changes, Southwire’s CEO Rich Stinson expressed his pride in the current executive team's accomplishments and enthusiasm for welcoming the new members. He emphasized that this bolstered leadership structure will be crucial in driving the company forward into 2025 with enhanced vigor and focus.
Norman Adkins, the COO, expressed his confidence in the new team members, highlighting their commitment to the company's mission and strategic decision-making capabilities. Their leadership is expected to foster operational excellence and yield positive outcomes for the organization.
Juan Hernandez commented on his promotion, expressing gratitude for the trust placed in him and the opportunity to lead the Residential and Commercial Group towards new achievements. Veronica Braker echoed similar sentiments regarding her expanded responsibilities, highlighting her enthusiasm for working with the operations team to fulfill Southwire’s objectives.
Finally, Rohan Kelkar expressed eagerness to join Southwire and his admiration for the company’s achievements and culture, which align with his commitment to innovation and sustainability. He looks forward to leading the Utility and Industrial Group in this dynamic environment.
