A New Era for Meiji Essel Super Cup: Multilingual Packages
In June 2025, Meiji Co., Ltd., led by President Katsuya Matsuda, is set to launch a special edition of its beloved
Meiji Essel Super Cup ice cream series featuring multilingual packaging. This package will include English, Chinese (Simplified), and Korean text to introduce consumers to the brand, making it especially appealing to international tourists visiting Japan.
The Meiji Essel Super Cup brand is celebrating its 30th anniversary, having originally debuted in
September 2024. The new packaging creates an opportunity for foreign visitors to engage with this iconic product, helping to boost inbound tourism demand. Each cup will prominently display the flavor name in English on the lid and side, ensuring clarity for non-Japanese speakers.
The three initial flavors being released with this new packaging are
Super Vanilla, Matcha, and
Chocolate Cookie. These delicious offerings have been favorites among Japanese consumers, and the company aims to extend this popularity to a global audience. The packaging will also include enticing messages on the rim of the cup, inviting everyone to enjoy these delectable treats.
Engaging Tourists Through a Tasty Experience
To celebrate the launch of the multilingual packaging and attract attention from tourists, Meiji will host a unique sampling event in
Kyoto. From June 20 to June 22, 2025, the company will distribute
10,000 free samples of the
Super Vanilla flavor at the Kawaramachi Garden. This initiative marks the first time that Meiji has engaged in such a large-scale sampling in Japan, aimed specifically at foreign visitors.
The event will not only feature ice cream distribution but will also include original stickers as additional giveaways. This presents a fantastic opportunity for tourists to savor a well-loved Japanese dessert while exploring the cultural depths of Kyoto.
Event Details:
- - Date: June 20 (Friday) to June 22 (Sunday), 2025
- - Time: 10 AM - 5 PM (or until supplies last)
- - Location: Kawaramachi Garden, 1st Floor Event Space

This initiative from Meiji is a significant step towards promoting
Japanese culture and cuisine through its iconic desserts. By providing foreign visitors with the chance to taste the
Meiji Essel Super Cup, the company hopes to create memorable experiences that encourage exploration and appreciation of traditional Japanese treats during their travels. With this launch, Meiji not only celebrates its legacy but also actively participates in enhancing Japan's reputation as a top destination for food lovers around the world.
In embracing diversity and catering to the global market, Meiji has once again established itself as a leader in the ice cream industry, blending the charm of Japanese flavors with the warmth of international hospitality.
