Sirona Medical, recognized as a frontrunner in cloud-native radiology workflow solutions, has recently appointed Ken Kaufman as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This strategic move aims to propel the company into its next phase of growth, particularly emphasizing the transformation within the radiology sector through advanced technologies.

A Journey of Innovation in Healthcare IT



Ken Kaufman brings a wealth of experience, evidenced by a successful career in radiology and healthcare IT that spans over two decades. His career highlights include pivotal roles at industry giants such as McKesson, Allscripts, IDX System Corporation, and A-Life Medical. Kaufman has always been at the forefront of innovation, focusing on software solutions that cater to the changing needs of healthcare providers.

At IDX Systems, Kaufman was instrumental in the development of the company’s Electronic Medical Records (EMR) business, ultimately leading to its acquisition by Allscripts in the year 2000. Following this, he took on the role of Chief Operating Officer at A-Life Medical. Here, he oversaw the development of a groundbreaking Natural Language Processing (NLP) application which revolutionized medical coding for radiology, showcasing Kaufman’s commitment to harnessing technology for improved healthcare delivery.

His tenure at McKesson further solidified his reputation as a leading innovator. Kaufman played a key role in expanding the company's picture archiving and communication system (PACS) operations. He collaborated closely with radiologists to ensure that the systems catered to their needs, ultimately making McKesson’s PACS one of the largest in the United States and executing the largest PACS deployment in Ireland at that time.

After embracing a new challenge, Kaufman co-founded PureWellness in 2010. This cloud-native population health software company matured under his leadership, ultimately serving over 15 million users and collaborating with major clients like LinkedIn, BlackRock, and Microsoft. Following its acquisition by Cerner Corporation, Kaufman continued to drive innovations in population health as the Vice President and General Manager.
