Celebrating 35 Years of the Japan Orchestra Federation
The Japan Orchestra Federation (JOF) is marking its 35th anniversary with a remarkable initiative alongside BraVo and teket. Set to launch on March 31, 2026, the “Recommended Concerts Site for Member Orchestras” aims to enhance accessibility to orchestral performances across Japan. This collaborative project seeks to address the widespread challenge of attracting new fans to the classical music scene.
Background of the Initiative
The orchestral industry is currently facing a collective issue: the difficulty of securing new audiences. Each orchestra promotes its performances independently, which can overwhelm those new to the classical music world. With so many options available, potential concert-goers often find it hard to select a show that appeals to them. In response, the JOF, which has dedicated itself to the promotion and development of professional orchestras throughout Japan since its establishment in 1990, is taking action. This new website will feature curated performance information from orchestras nationwide, making it easier for interested individuals to discover and purchase tickets.
Overview of the Concert Recommendation Site
This innovative website will showcase select performances from 40 professional orchestras across Japan, handpicked by the planners and public relations staff associated with these organizations. With insights directly from those who know the industry best, this site serves as a user-friendly entry point for anyone unfamiliar with classical music. Visitors will be able to seamlessly purchase tickets once they find concerts that intrigue them. The overarching goal of this initiative is to broaden the reach of concert information, encouraging more individuals to attend live orchestral performances.
For more details and updates, the site will officially open its virtual doors at
ebrado.jp/enjoy-orchestras on March 31, 2026, at noon.
Roles of the Three Partners
1.
Japan Orchestra Federation: This organization is responsible for orchestrating the initiative alongside member orchestras. They will compile recommended concert information from various orchestras and oversee the selection and updating of performances featured on the site. With 27 full members and 13 associate members, JOF currently represents a total of 40 orchestras, each contributing to the culture of professional orchestral music in Japan.
2.
BraVo Holdings: This company will be in charge of the design and publication of the concert information pages. Since its inception in 1994, BraVo has been a prominent classical music information magazine and web media platform, covering approximately 16,000 concert announcements annually, allowing it to create engaging content that effectively conveys the allure of each performance.
3.
teket: A leading player in electronic ticketing for classical music, teket will facilitate the purchasing experience for users via its platform. Many orchestras and their patrons already recognize teket as a trusted resource for electronic tickets. In fact, teket and BraVo have previously established a partnership that allows for a smoother ticketing experience, linking BraVo’s articles directly to teket’s purchasing pages.
