Houdini II to Honor Harry Houdini with Daring Escape Above Magic Castle
On October 30, 2026, Houdini II, a talented African American magician and escape artist, plans to perform a breathtaking live escape from a height of 90 feet above the iconic Magic Castle in Hollywood, California. This event not only commemorates the 100th anniversary of the legendary Harry Houdini's death but also serves as a significant milestone in the world of magic by showcasing the talents of an African American escape artist in this historic venue.
The performance is scheduled to take place at 8 a.m. and will feature Houdini II making an astonishing escape from a straitjacket, a classic trick that pays homage to Houdini’s most famous acts. What makes this escape particularly remarkable is the absence of any safety nets or airbag protections below, adding an element of danger and thrill that the audience is sure to appreciate. Houdini II aims to demonstrate his extraordinary skills while also promoting a message of social unity, peace, and global harmony as part of his performance. As a symbolic gesture, he plans to rain down $1,000 from the skies, further emphasizing his commitment to these causes.
Houdini II's journey to this historic moment has been anything but ordinary. His recent stunts include a daring 100-foot straitjacket escape in Appleton, Wisconsin, and other thrilling performances such as leaping from Miami’s MacArthur Bridge into Biscayne Bay while physically restrained. His ability to captivate audiences extends beyond mere escapes; he creates a narrative that weaves together historical reverence and modern spectacle.
In the past year, Houdini II has gained widespread acclaim for his documentary, "Houdini II: A Beautiful Day to Die," which has toured various cities, including Berlin, London, and across several states in the U.S. This 10-month tour concluded with a screening at Brooklyn's Bushwick Film Festival, solidifying his place as not only an escape artist but also a compelling storyteller and advocate for diversity in the entertainment industry.
The upcoming event at Magic Castle will mark the first time an African American escape artist has presented a live escape in front of this prestigious audience. The Magic Castle, known for hosting the world's top magicians and escape artists, serves as the perfect backdrop for such a momentous performance.
As Houdini II prepares for this spectacle, anticipation builds among fans and the general public alike. His daring acts intertwine moments of awe with deeper messages of hope and resilience.
