Exploring Leadership Opportunities for Girls: Green Tie Guys Campaign Launches in Atlanta

Green Tie Guys Campaign Returns for Second Year

The Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta have kicked off their second annual Green Tie Guys campaign, an initiative dedicated to promoting leadership opportunities for girls in the Atlanta area. This campaign is specially designed to engage male leaders in the community, encouraging them to become role models and advocates for girls' empowerment.

The Campaign Goals

Running from June 25 through September 24, 2026, the Green Tie Guys campaign aims to recruit 25 committed male allies, each tasked with raising or contributing $3,000. The overall fundraising goal for this year is set at over $55,000. This uptick in funding seeks to address the startling statistic that currently, organizations focused on aiding girls receive less than 3% of all charitable donations in the United States.

Jai Ferrell, the CEO of Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta, stated, "Green Tie Guys invites men in our community to do more than show up. It challenges them to step up." Through actions and contributions, these leaders aim to forge a future where girls possess the confidence and skills required to take on leadership roles.

Empowering Young Women

The funds generated from the Green Tie Guys campaign will support various developmental programs, designed specifically to cultivate courage, confidence, and character in young girls. These programs will encompass:
  • - STEM and Leadership Opportunities: Engaging activities that introduce essential skills and knowledge required in leadership roles, particularly in the traditionally male-dominated fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
  • - Outdoor Adventures: Confidence-building experiences through outdoor activities that allow girls to learn and grow in a supportive environment.
  • - Financial Aid: Creating access to Girl Scouts programs for girls from all financial backgrounds, ensuring that every girl has opportunities to participate.

Building a Legacy

New to the campaign this year is the introduction of the Green Tie Guys Founding Circle. This initiative honors the 32 men from both the 2025 and 2026 cohorts who have significantly contributed to launching the campaign. These founding members are positioned to build a legacy of support that strengthens girls' opportunities throughout the metropolitan Atlanta region.

The campaign gained impressive traction in its inaugural year, with 17 men participating and contributing to the collective mission of empowering girls.

Meet the 2026 Cohort

This year’s Green Tie Guys cohort includes several notable figures in the Atlanta business and civic landscape:
  • - Jay Bailey – President and CEO, H.J. Russell Innovation Center for Entrepreneurs
  • - Calvin L. Butts, Jr. – Co-Founder, East Chop Capital
  • - Tony Carnell – Henry County Water Authority
  • - Devlin Cleveland – Welcome Home Creamery
  • - Derek East, Jr. – Senior Human Resources Manager at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport
  • - TJ Ferguson – Councilman, City of Mableton

These community figures not only donate their time and resources but also exemplify the ideals of mentorship and support that the campaign seeks to promote.
