Seasonal Delights at Tohoku Farm
The Tohoku Farm, owned and operated by Hotel Continental Fuchu, is excited to announce its new buffet menu featuring seasonal sweet potatoes sourced directly from its fields in Aomori Prefecture. Located on the first floor of the hotel, the Tohoku Farm Buffet Restaurant aims to deliver an authentic culinary experience highlighting the bounty of the season.
Sustainable Farming Practices
At Tohoku Farm, we believe in nurturing the land through sustainable agricultural practices. The rich soil from our thoroughbred horses plays a vital role in growing our sweet potatoes. Using horse manure and hay, we create well-matured compost over a period of six months, ensuring that no chemical fertilizers or pesticides are utilized in our farming methods. This commitment not only produces high-quality sweet potatoes but also supports the health of our environment.
Culinary Creations
The buffet features a range of dishes crafted by skilled chefs from various culinary backgrounds, integrating Japanese, Western, and Chinese influences. Guests can enjoy:
- - Roasted Sweet Potatoes
- - Sweet Potato with Black Vinegar Sauce
- - Sweet Potato and Pork Stew
- - Sweet Potato Soup
- - Sweet Potato Pudding
These dishes celebrate the essence of enjoying seasonal ingredients, offering guests a special culinary experience that focuses on the freshness of our featured produce.
Gastronomy Experience
At Tohoku Farm Buffet, we focus on providing a gastronomic experience that revolves around seasonal ingredients. We are committed to sourcing the best sweet potatoes during their peak season so that our guests can savor the flavors in their most delightful form. The delightful buffet not only allows diners to indulge in delectable recipes but also invites them to explore the symbiosis of nature and agriculture that our farm embodies.
Our Roots
Established in 1917, Tohoku Farm initially set out as a thoroughbred breeding farm. By 1987, the farm adopted a circular farming approach, focusing on sustainable agriculture. Covering approximately 100 hectares, Tohoku Farm dedicates about 10 hectares to cultivate organic vegetables and herbs, free from chemical fertilizers and pesticides. Additionally, our farm produces free-range eggs under the brand names “Aotama” and “Akadama,” with the primary feed sourced from our pesticide-free corn.
With around 100 varieties of ingredients delivered directly to Hotel Continental Fuchu throughout the year, including wild mountain vegetables and herbs, our farm strives for sustainable agricultural practices that promote harmony with nature.
Building Future Connections
The circular farming practices at Tohoku Farm create a vibrant economic connection between the rich natural resources of Aomori and the culinary landscape of Tokyo. By transferring the value of ingredients from Tokyo to Aomori, we generate employment opportunities that contribute to agricultural development. Meanwhile, customers in Tokyo enjoy the high-quality produce nurtured by Aomori’s nature, providing an exceptional dining experience.
Our vision is to cultivate strong relationships between Tohoku Farm, Hotel Continental Fuchu, and our valued customers, promoting sustainability for future generations. We remain committed to cherishing our symbiotic relationship with nature and delivering the benefits of this partnership to our guests through exceptional culinary offerings.
