At IFT 2025, Samyang Corporation introduced its 3S (Smart, Simple, and Successful) Solution—an AI-based standardized sugar reduction offering that utilizes specialty ingredients. This innovative solution was unveiled alongside tasting samples, including two types of cereal bars, allowing visitors to experience the potential of the product firsthand.
How the 3S Solution Works
The 3S Solution is designed to streamline product development for food manufacturers. It enables them to input their desired sugar reduction levels, ingredient costs, and other relevant product category factors. The AI technology then analyzes this data to propose the most effective sugar reduction strategy using Samyang Corporation's unique specialty ingredients. The two main ingredients highlighted in this solution are allulose, an alternative sweetener, and resistant maltodextrin, a water-soluble dietary fiber.
Allulose: A Game-Changer in Sweeteners
Allulose is a remarkable sweetener that delivers about 70% of the sweetness of traditional sugar but significantly reduces calorie intake, providing virtually zero calories. This ingredient was developed using proprietary enzyme technology by Samyang in 2016 and has been available in various markets under the brand name Nexweet since 2021.
The Benefits of Resistant Maltodextrin
Resistant maltodextrin is recognized as a health-functional food ingredient that may assist with digestive health, help regulate post-meal blood sugar spikes, and improve triglyceride levels. Samyang Corporation produces both liquid and powdered forms of this ingredient and markets them under the brand name Fiberest. The combination of allulose and resistant maltodextrin is believed to create a synergistic effect, enhancing both flavor and health benefits of food products.
