Freedom Plaza, a groundbreaking project set to transform Manhattan's East Side, has recently revealed updated renderings showing a commitment to affordable housing. This ambitious vision includes 1,049 new residential units, with 513 homes priced for working families—addressing a pressing need in New York City's housing market. Two luxury hotels operated by global leaders, Mohegan and the Banyan Tree group, are also planned, including entertainment options that would cater to adults aged 21 and older.

CEO Michael Hershman from Soloviev Group reinforces the transformative vision behind Freedom Plaza: “This initiative integrates residential spaces, culture, and commerce, creating a vibrant community that supports the region's working-class families.” Moreover, the project has garnered strong support from community leaders who highlight its potential to alleviate the city's ongoing housing crisis.

Melanie Aucello, President of the 344 East 28th Street Tenant Association, advocates for Freedom Plaza’s commitment to affordable housing. “Over 500 affordable housing units are crucial,” she states, emphasizing the project’s role in addressing the pressing needs of working families.

Freedom Plaza aligns with a broader mission to foster diverse economic opportunities. The initiative is designed to create over 17,000 union jobs during construction and provides ongoing employment opportunities post-completion, generating an economic impact well into the billions.
