Celebrating 40 Years of Isami Nakagawa
Isami Nakagawa, an esteemed manga artist, is marking an incredible milestone of 40 years in his artistic career that began in 1985 with the debut of "Uwasa no Trouble Man." This special anniversary is being celebrated with an exhibition at TOBICHI Tokyo, located at Kanda Nishikicho in Chiyoda Ward, organized by Hobo Nippon Co., Ltd.
The exhibition will showcase original artwork from Nakagawa's notable series, including the beloved "Kuma no Pootaro" (The Bear Pootaro), which ran from 1989 and was later adapted into a TV anime. Attendees can view freshly created works made specifically for this exhibition and participate in unique activities such as the special project "Your Animal at Home," along with live drawing sessions by Nakagawa himself. Exclusive original merchandise, reproductions, and original artworks will also be available for purchase.

Original Manuscripts:
A selection of original manuscripts of "Kuma no Pootaro" will be on display, specifically preserved in the exact condition they were presented to the publishers. Although only a few scenes will be showcased, visitors will have the opportunity to connect with their favorite moments from Nakagawa's work.

Timeline of Creativity:
The exhibition will feature an extensive timeline showcasing Nakagawa's career progression from his debut work to his latest publication,
"Korokoro Kedama Nikki Volume 2," released on March 19, 2026. The timeline serves as a nostalgic journey through Nakagawa's prolific portfolio, including many beloved titles.

New Original Art:
Nakagawa will create new original works for this exhibition. A range of art pieces, from small to large formats, will be displayed and some will be available for purchase. Reproductions of select works, like the piece titled "Under the Cherry Blossom Tree" (tentative), can be pre-ordered with Nakagawa's signature included to be delivered after the exhibition.

Special Merchandise:
Limited edition signed copies of his latest work and original merchandise, including specially designed T-shirts and postcards, will also be available for fans and visitors to purchase.

Unique Drawings:
In an exciting event, Nakagawa might illustrate a portrait of your pet launched under the project "Your Animal at Home." Interested attendees can fill out an application form at the venue. A drawing will be made based on the submitted photo and the personality described by the participants, with winners notified post-exhibition.

Nakagawa will hold live drawing sessions in a nearby radio booth. Visitors can catch a glimpse of his creative process during designated days throughout the exhibition, specifically on April 29, May 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17, 23, and 24. About Isami Nakagawa
Born on July 8, 1962, Isami Nakagawa began drawing comics during his school years. In 1989, he began serialization of his four-panel manga "Kuma no Pootaro" in
Big Comic Spirits, capturing audiences with its nonsensical and absurd humor, achieving over a million copies in sales. Nakagawa has also won the
Asahi Newspaper Advertising Award in 2003 and is currently serializing
