First Responders Children's Foundation Welcomes Tom Harris and Phillip Harrington to Its Board

Enhancing Support for First Responders' Families

The First Responders Children's Foundation (FRCF) recently announced the appointment of Tom Harris and Phillip Harrington to its Board of Directors. As a national 501(c)(3) organization, the FRCF is dedicated to supporting the families of U.S. first responders—including firefighters, police officers, paramedics, EMTs, corrections officers, and 911 dispatchers. This latest development marks a significant strengthening of the Foundation's ability to deliver meaningful assistance in times of need.

Who Are the New Board Members?

Tom Harris serves as the President of the Times Square Alliance, a role he has held since 2021. Before that, he dedicated 23 years to the New York City Police Department (NYPD), where he earned respect and recognition for his vast experience in public safety and urban management. With his extensive background, Harris has been instrumental in enhancing the vibrancy and safety of one of New York City’s most iconic districts. He has collaborated closely with the FRCF, playing an integral role in initiatives such as National First Responders Day, further showcasing his commitment to supporting first responders and their families.

Reflecting on his new role, Harris shared, "After a 23-year career with the NYPD, the wellbeing of first responders and their families remains incredibly important to me. Working with FRCF on National First Responders Day over the past four years has given me a deep appreciation for the Foundation's impact. I'm honored to join the Board and support its mission to serve the families of those who give so much to our communities."

Phillip Harrington, the CEO of Professional Store Services, also brings a unique perspective as he is the father of a firefighter. His position has provided him with first-hand insight into the challenges faced by first responder families. Harrington founded his company in 2016, emphasizing the importance of building sustainable systems that help drive growth for small businesses. His experience aligns closely with the Foundation's goals, as he aims to provide operational support not just in business but also in community welfare.

Harrington stated, "As a business leader, I've spent my career focused on building systems that help people succeed, but as the father of a firefighter, this mission is deeply personal to me. I'm honored to join the Board of the First Responders Children's Foundation and support an organization that provides meaningful resources and opportunities to the families who stand behind our first responders."

Foundation Goals and Vision

The First Responders Children's Foundation was founded 25 years ago following the tragic events of 9/11, when 800 children lost a parent who served as a first responder. Over the years, the Foundation has evolved but continues to place emphasis on providing scholarships, financial assistance, and mental health support. Their mission revolves around uplifting the children of first responders across the nation, ensuring they have access to the resources they need to thrive.

In the words of Jillian Crane, the President and CEO of FRCF, "Tom Harris and Phillip Harrington bring the transformative leadership and principled strategy needed to expand our support for the children of those who serve our communities. Their leadership strengthens our mission and ensures we continue providing meaningful support to first responder families."

As the organization welcomes these two leaders on board, there is a sense of optimism for what the future holds. With their collective leadership, FRCF is uniquely positioned to further its impact, addressing the specific needs of first responders’ families and reinforcing the community's commitment to those who continuously put their lives on the line to ensure our safety.
