Discover the Hidden Charms of the Sashima Region at SASHIMAFESTIVAL 2025

Experience Ibaraki's Sashima Region through SASHIMAFESTIVAL 2025

On November 28 and 29, 2025, the Sashima Festival will illuminate the underground of Tokyo Station at the KITTE's basement performance zone. This pop-up event, organized by the local chambers of commerce from cities like Koga and Bando, promises to be a festive showcase of Sashima's rich agricultural heritage and the exceptional talents of its producers.

Happo-en, a leading event production company headquartered in Minato, Tokyo, will curate this unique event, highlighting the flavors and crafts of the Sashima area. Visitors can indulge in special desserts developed by Happo-en's chefs using locally sourced ingredients, along with offerings from various local businesses. Whether you're interested in trying unique regional sweets or sampling local delicacies, SASHIMAFESTIVAL promises to deliver a delightful culinary experience.

The Beauty of the Sashima Region

Situated approximately 60 kilometers from Tokyo, the Sashima district of Ibaraki Prefecture, housing a rich agricultural environment, offers both picturesque landscapes and a bounty of fresh produce. Made up of Koga City, Bando City, Goka Town, and Sakai Town, this area features lush greenery and agricultural land, where local farmers harness the fertile soil to cultivate an array of fresh crops.

Despite its treasures, many of Sashima’s products remain relatively unknown outside the region. To bring awareness to its unique offerings, Happo-en has organized pop-up events since 2020, and this year's festival marks the fourth edition.

Enjoy Regional Delicacies

At the festival, attendees can expect to find exclusive desserts created by acclaimed chefs from Happo-en, utilizing local ingredients such as the distinctive honey from Inaka Honey and blueberry vinegar from Minaba Trading Company. The signature creations include:

  • - Honey and Sweet Potato Sake Cake — A blend of sweet potato from nearby farms cooked in honey, it is infused with sake syrup for a fragrant autumn treat. (Price: ¥700)
  • - Blueberry Bacon Sable Cake — Combines creamy mascarpone and the tangy sweetness of blueberry vinegar with a crunchy rice cracker topping, balancing flavors beautifully. (Price: ¥700)
  • - Japanese Black Tea and Chestnut Muffin — Made with locally sourced tea and chestnut preserves, offering a gentle sweetness that encapsulates the essence of autumn. (Price: ¥400)

Connect with Local Producers

The SASHIMAFESTIVAL not only offers a plethora of tasting opportunities but also provides a platform for local producers to share their stories and craftsmanship. Each booth will feature displays that narrate their product development journeys, allowing visitors to engage directly with the producers who have poured their passion into every item.

Visitors can sample various products that represent the heart and soul of the Sashima region, from sweet potato snacks to artisanal goods. It is a chance to really appreciate the effort and love that go into each offering while enjoying complimentary tastings.
