Path of Liberty: That Which Unites US - A New Art Experience in NYC
On May 15, 2025, a unique community-based art installation titled Path of Liberty: That Which Unites US will open its doors in Freedom Plaza, located on Manhattan's East Side. This captivating project is presented by The Soloviev Foundation, aiming to celebrate 250 years of American history through immersive personal narratives and visual storytelling.
The installation spans an impressive six acres, running from 38th to 41st Street on First Avenue, and is designed by the creative studio CG Partners. Daniella Vale, a renowned filmmaker and director, leads the artistic direction of this large-scale event. The Path of Liberty serves as a precursor to the anticipated America 250, the event marking the 250th anniversary of the United States in 2026.
Stefan Soloviev, Principal of the Soloviev Foundation, describes the initiative as a celebration of the fundamental ideals of liberty, equality, and unity that America stands for. He emphasizes, "By showcasing personal stories from across the country, we hope to foster a deeper connection between individuals and the principles that unite us all."
An Immersive Experience
The experience of Path of Liberty is not just about observation; it invites active participation. Open for free to the public on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings from 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM, visitors can reserve a spot on the official website, pathoflibertynyc.com, or simply walk up as new slots are added continuously. The installation will be illuminated on Sunday through Wednesday evenings, providing a stunning visual from the perimeter.
The exhibition will present 41 large-scale screens, each featuring stunning photographs and compelling audio stories, brought to life through a collaborative film production with the Museum of the American Revolution alongside Donna Lawrence Productions. Visitors can expect interactive exhibits that deepen their understanding of America’s storied past while fostering meaningful connections.
Vale traveled extensively across the country to capture the vibrant portraits and candid interviews essential to this initiative. Among those featured are diverse individuals, including a World War II veteran, retired firefighters, artists, activists, small farmers, educators, national park rangers, and union transit workers. Each personal narrative offers a unique glimpse into life in America, underscoring the power of individual stories in revealing the universal connections that bind us.
Bridging Art with Humanity
Path of Liberty is a continuation of The Soloviev Foundation’s commitment to utilize art as a medium for community connection and reflection. As articulated by Michael Hershman, CEO of the Soloviev Group, “Path of Liberty is not only a reflection of our nation’s history but also a call to action—inviting each of us to reflect on the shared values that continue to shape America today.” He envisions that this visual experience will inspire conversations about unity and community.
The Soloviev Foundation's mission encompasses not just large institutional partners but also smaller organizations dedicated to serving the local communities, making art accessible and engaging for everyone.
Overall, Path of Liberty: That Which Unites US promises to be an unforgettable experience—a celebration of past achievements and a reflection on the ongoing challenges of American democracy. It encourages all who attend to leave with a renewed understanding of their heritage and aspirations for the future.
