In 1972, she achieved a pivotal milestone by earning her Juris Doctor from San Francisco Law School, and by 1982, she was breaking barriers as the first woman to be elected to the Municipal Court of California, County of Marin. Her momentum continued in 1990 when she was elected without opposition to the Superior Court of California, County of Marin, cementing her status as a trailblazer in the legal community.

During her time on the bench, Judge Taylor demonstrated unmatched dedication, with 21 years serving as an active judge followed by an additional 14 years in an assigned capacity post-retirement. She served on the Judicial Council Civil Jury Instruction Task Force, where her efforts led to the creation of the CACI (California Civil Jury Instructions), designed to enhance accessibility for judges across California at no cost.

Beyond her professional accolades, Judge Taylor is deeply engaged in her community through various organizations. As a member of the San Rafael Marin Evening Rotary Club and a board member of Marin Council of Scouting USA, she actively participates in civic life. In 2019, her contributions were further acknowledged with her induction into the Marin Women's Hall of Fame.
