Milo's Tea Company Expands Operations

Milo's Tea Company, a proud family-owned and certified women-owned business, has unveiled its brand-new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Spartanburg, South Carolina. This significant investment, totaling $200 million, marks the fourth facility for the company, reflecting its continuous growth in the beverage market. The grand opening, held on April 22, 2025, featured important partners, including Walmart, and highlighted the critical role of skilled jobs in the region.

The newly established facility is expected to ultimately employ more than 200 associates, contributing to a robust workforce and promoting a strong manufacturing culture in South Carolina. To date, more than 130 enthusiastic individuals have already been hired to ensure that Milo's commitment to excellence remains unbroken. These early hires underscore the company’s focus on building a People First culture, recognized for its emphasis on operational efficiency and stringent food safety standards.

CEO Tricia Wallwork, who is also the granddaughter of founders Milo and Bea Carlton, expressed her gratitude for the warm reception from local community partners. “Being strategically located in Spartanburg allows us to enhance our service delivery and maintain our commitment to fresh, high-quality beverages. Our brewing process prioritizes the use of real ingredients, steering clear of added colors or preservatives, resulting in a flavor profile reminiscent of homemade beverages,” Wallwork stated.

Additionally, the proximity of the facility to major logistics routes is projected to enhance the distribution of Milo's products across the mid-Atlantic region. This expansion comes at a time when the company has achieved notable growth—it has more than doubled its workforce in the past decade, now boasting nearly 1,000 employees across four facilities. Furthermore, Milo's has made a mark in over 55,000 retail locations, including approximately 4,200 Walmart stores nationwide, solidifying its status as the leading seller of ready-to-drink tea in the U.S.

Walmart's role in Milo's growth cannot be overlooked. As a cherished retail partner for over thirty years, Walmart's support has facilitated significant expansion within the beverage industry. “We are proud to support American businesses,” remarked Walmart U.S. CEO John Furner. He emphasized the importance of local manufacturing and its positive impact on job creation.

Not only does Milo's Tea Company focus on employment, but it is also deeply committed to the Spartanburg community. The company has implemented a 1% profit pledge, which channels financial contributions and product donations to local organizations. Moreover, they have achieved platinum certification as a zero-waste manufacturer, recycling an impressive 98% of their waste. Conservation efforts extend to water stewardship as well, with Milo's participating in The Water Council's WAVE certification program.

Governor Henry McMaster hailed the opening of the facility, stating that it symbolizes the strength of South Carolina's manufacturing sector and workforce. He highlighted the positive impact this investment will have on local communities by creating
