Convertus Secures $135 Million Financing for Innovative Biofuel Facility in York Region

Convertus Secures Major Financing for Biofuel Facility

Convertus Group has recently made headlines by announcing the successful closing of a substantial $135 million in project financing allocated for its cutting-edge biofuel facility located in York Region, Ontario. This significant financial milestone was facilitated by Power Sustainable Infrastructure Credit (PSIC), a trusted partner in the renewable energy sector. The Selkirk Advisory Group played a crucial role as the financial advisor in orchestrating this financing, thereby marking a key step for the project as it inches closer towards commissioning and operational readiness.

As construction progresses swiftly at the Convertus York Biofuel Facility, which is designed to process an impressive 200,000 tonnes of source-separated organic waste each year, projections indicate the facility is set to produce an estimated 350,000 to 400,000 gigajoules of renewable natural gas annually. Beyond renewable natural gas, this innovative facility is expected to yield low carbon liquid fertilizer alongside food-grade liquefied carbon dioxide (CO₂). This multi-product approach is not just groundbreaking; it leverages a single waste stream to generate high-value, low-carbon outputs while maximizing resource recovery.

Jamie Jongsma, the Chief Financial Officer of Convertus Group, expressed enthusiasm regarding the successful financing, underscoring that it signifies a pivotal achievement for Convertus.
