Liguori Academy Expands Campus Through Acquisition of Aldrich Center for Excellence

Liguori Academy Expands Campus and Educational Opportunities

Liguori Academy, a prominent educational institution based in Philadelphia, is making significant strides towards enhancing its educational offerings. In a recent announcement, the Academy declared the successful acquisition of two buildings, thanks to a generous contribution from the Aldrich Foundation. This strategic move aims to launch a new chapter of educational excellence and innovation.

The newly acquired properties will enable Liguori Academy to develop what is being designated as the Aldrich Center for Excellence. This center will not only serve as an educational facility, but also focus on the health and well-being of its students. The primary building will undergo revitalization to house the Academy's main school activities, while the additional building will become a dedicated resource for student wellness and mental health initiatives.

Director of Advancement, Sammy DiGeorge, expressed gratitude towards the Aldrich Foundation for their substantial investment. “We are profoundly grateful for the Aldrich Foundation's generous investment in Liguori Academy. As a school already recognized for our innovative programming, the acquisition of these two buildings will elevate the Boundless Opportunities we offer to our students,” DiGeorge stated. This thoughtful approach is positioned to strengthen the Academy's role as a leader in educational and workforce readiness in Philadelphia and beyond.

The Aldrich Center for Excellence

The Aldrich Center for Excellence will be pivotal in providing a safe haven for students to prioritize their mental and physical well-being. This innovative facility will be utilized not only during school hours but also before and after school, creating a supportive environment that encourages social and emotional development. Additionally, Liguori Academy plans to extend its resources and opportunities to the local community, fostering a sense of inclusivity and engagement.

The collaboration between Liguori Academy and the Aldrich Foundation deepened after William Greene, the Foundation's founder, visited the campus. His visit was prompted by heartfelt thank-you calls and handwritten letters from students expressing their appreciation for the Foundation's initial donation. Fueled by the enthusiasm and creativity of the students, who articulated their desires for enhancing the school—from expanding the robotics program to broadening career readiness initiatives—Greene was moved to contribute an impressive $3 million to facilitate the acquisition.

Future Plans

In the coming months, Liguori Academy will embark on an ambitious renovation project for the two historic buildings, which date back to 1854 and 1920. This restoration will not only preserve the architectural heritage but will also transform them into cutting-edge facilities for high school students and the broader community.

As the Academy looks ahead to this exciting new year, it is committed to realizing the dreams of its students while maintaining its mission of guiding them towards successful careers and higher education pathways post-graduation. Liguori Academy continues to thrive as an innovative institution, demonstrating a deep understanding of the evolving educational landscape.
